A Chicago man is facing 1st degree murder after plowing into a group of people. Tavis Dunbar, 34, was arrested on Monday and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree attempted murder. Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said an investigation revealed that Tavis “intentionally struck” the men, who were standing outside a well known gay bar.

A Chicago man is facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly driving his car through a group of people, killing three and injuring one, police said.

Dunbar turned himself in, accompanied by an attorney but has invoked his right to remain silent giving no possible motive for why he ran his car into the men early Monday morning.
Brendan Deenihan, the department’s chief of detectives said there is no evidence to support that the hit and run was a hate crime.
Detectives have determined that Dunbar was in the bar before the accident, but there was no indication that he got into a fight or an argument with anyone there before he left.

Prosecutors said Dunbar drove off in his car, going nearly 60 mph and “never once touched the brake” before he slammed into the group, leaving three dead and one injured according to a court filing.
Dunbar was jailed without bond at a Tuesday hearing.
