More than 200 march in Bario Logan for human rights

SAN DIEGO — More than 200 people marched through Barrio Logan Saturday in the sixth annual March and Rally for Human Rights.

The grass roots event, which begins in Chicano Park, is held each year around the anniversary of the death of Mexican revolutionary hero Emiliano Zapata. The park’s statue of Zapata was surrounded with bouquets of flowers. This year is the 90th anniversary of his death.

Participants, who included many college students dressed as revolutionaries, waved Mexican flags and chanted “Zapata vive! La lucha sigue y sigue!â€
