We received this from a long-time friend. Her granddaughter sent this to them. Now understand this girl is an honor student. At her 9th birthday she received CD's from her grandmother of Beethoven and Bach. She was very excited. The other kids at her party looked at her like what's Beethoven? So if you think they don't learn values from you, guess again.

Dear Ones,

If you think the future of America is at risk and that our young adults are not taking the world they live in and their responsibilities for this great nation seriously, please take heart. We received this email today from an 18 year old who is very dear to us and I just had to pass it along. If you pass this on, please do it as a cut and paste instead of as a FW.

Well... It is 5 am in ............ and I have yet to fall asleep- and as I sit here going on to my third consecutive hour of online news coverage (courtesy ofwww.foxnews.com) I am reminded of someone very near and dear to my heart. Sound like anyone we might know? I'll give you a hint! The correlation jumped into my head right around 4:30 when my pot of coffee stopped brewing and I smelled my starbucks as it poured into my mug I and began drinking it. Did i mention I was drinking it black?
The first thing that jumped into my head was "oh my goodness, i thought you were only supposed to turn into your mother!" Yet here i am sitting "grammy style" at 5 am watching fox news, drinking "unpolluted coffee." What in the world?! I am already turning into mom and if that weren't enough i am now 18 years old with a Ronald Reagan quote as my .................. drinking black coffee and poring over fox news coverage of the proposed federal bail-out. (and if you were wondering about my ideas on that fantastic 2 1/2 page proposal suffice it to say that i am sitting awake at 5 watching fox news... and the Reagan quote? it is as follows..."The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"~Ronald Reagan.)
So no, i don't like it at all... Big government? = Big problems Is it me or is this a step towards socialism? i'm sorry but i fail to see where the accountability is for those who were abusing the system in the first place. Not to mention a lot of this comes to a lack of fiscal responsibility on the part of the american people.
we are spending money we do not have and that comes with consequences! diverting these consequences will do nothing to remedy the cause! This is reinforcing the irresponsible mindset of the american people! this is not acceptable.
Not to mention... Have you guys ever heard Dad's golden rule? "He who has the gold, makes the rules" Hate to admit it but that is so true! America has gotten to be such a powerhouse in the world for a few core reasons...

One- we had God on our side, but have we looked at how our nation is living? Morally we are falling apart and going against our very foundations that made us so strong. That alone is bound to mess us up. (and this is a little off-topic, but i heard that somewhere in colorado anything said or written against gays and their lifestyle is illegal now? here's an excerpt of that bill which has now been passed...

Section 8. 24-34-701. Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden. No person, being the owner, lessee, proprietor, manager, superintendent, agent, or employee of any place of public accommodation... shall publish, issue, circulate, send, distribute, give away, or display in any way, manner, or shape or by any means or method, except as provided in this section, any communication, paper, poster, folder, manuscript, book, pamphlet, writing, print, letter, notice, or advertisement of any kind, nature, or description THAT is intended or calculated to discriminate or actually discriminates against... SEXUAL ORIENTATION, marital status... in the matter of furnishing or neglecting or refusing to furnish to them or any one of them any lodging, housing, schooling, or tuition or any accommodation, right [marriage], privilege [adoption], advantage, or convenience... on account of... SEXUAL ORIENTATION, marital status... [which] is unwelcome or objectionable or not acceptable, desired, or solicited."

First text that pops into my head telling me homosexuality is wrong? The BIBLE. Colorado just passed a censorship law against the bible. If that is not frightening, then i don't know what is. This bill also permits any man to enter a womens bathroom or locker room area without being stopped or asked to give an explanation. this means that any sexual predator, pedophile, anyone can walk into a womens restroom and use its facilities for no reason other than the assumed pretense that they are gay. are parents going to feel comfortable allowing their daughters to go into a public restroom knowing that a man could walk in there at any second? Are you going to feel comfortable knowing that a man could walk in whenever he darn well pleased? this is ridiculous and completely off topic yet still somewhat relevant...

Two- Americans are/were hard workers. Look at the beginnings of our nation! this didn't just happen. so much blood sweat and tears was shed for everything we now have. Look at the work ethic of our founding fathers, the men who had to fight for our very freedom. It is ridiculous how lazy we have gotten. Our work ethic has gotten so screwed up- delayed gratification? we have none. we want the easy way out, the quickest way to a new home, a nice car. we want financial security and all of its benefits, and we want it now. Don't want to live in a fixer upper? thats alright, just take out a ridiculously well packaged and poorly structured loan that you can't afford and we'll let you buy the brand new home across town. and when your home gets defaulted upon and your mortgage company goes bankrupt and throws the nation into a financial crisis because people weren't being responsible and were spending money they didn't have to begin with? It's okay, we'll borrow 700 billion to fix it up for ya- or we can just take 2,000 dollars from every single american, including the ones who actually lived within their means, and do it that way! (Btw when averaged out, the amount of taxes that will be deducted from each and every american will be 2000 dollars- if they simply print out the 700 billion it will inflate our money to the point that each american will lose the value equivalent of 2000 dollars...

Three- America is losing their grip- Money is power, as the old saying goes.... and maybe this is the "economist" in me but i cannot see america keeping their place in the world if all of our financial security is going down the toilet. I don't know if i'm right, I'm 18 years old- i'm just starting to figure this stuff out, but seriously... How is america going to keep going the way we are and still maintain our status? All of this bailout and government interference reeks of socialism to me. It is not the governments place to be meddling with any of this! This is not a socialist nation and cannot survive as one. Looking at the track record of democratic nations we should already be off the map. and we aren't. and we are now deciding that it is a great idea to financially ruin ourselves and see how it goes. this is ridiculous, without some financial power we are nothing. we will not be able to support a military enough to protect us, we will not be able to stand up for ourselves in a world forum, we will lose all credibility. grrr....

So yes, i have now gone off into a rant about gosh darn politics... this is driving me bonkers!! And i don't know if my brain is leaning the right way on all this stuff and i am still trying to piece together my thoughts and stands on all these different things... Its not so tough on some of the issues like abortion, and gay rights... But when it comes to a lot of other things i'm just not sure. And i respect your opinion, and i know you guys know much much more about all of this than i do... its kind of an odd request but can i have your input on some of this stuff? So much of what is in the news and what I keep hearing gets looped around and a lot seems contradictory, its hard to find opinions you can trust so will you guys give me yours? and y'all have my number and you can call me whenever!! but yeah, this is a little overwhelming and a lot to think about! I love you both lots and lots!! And i'm so so grateful for a grammy and papa who really get me to care about so many things that i might not otherwise, spiritually you guys have set such a great example for me, and politically, well there's not too many grammy's i know who'll yell at politicians on the tv!! and a lot of that has passed on to me as well... (the caring part at least... )
Anyhow, i'm going to go hop in the shower and get ready for breakfast now, the dining hall opens at 7 and since i'm up anyways... why not? I love you so so much!! ~...........

Please pray for our nation and our current & upcoming generations to step up, stay informed and vote thoughtfully and with conviction. Blessings
