AZ- ATF seizes weapons bound for Mexico

ATF seizes weapons bound for Mexico
    August 16th, 2008 @ 1:44pm
    by KPHO.com

Phoenix's branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said on Friday it took 18 automatic weapons bound for Mexico off Arizona streets before they got south of the border.

The guns were heading to drug cartels in Mexico from the U.S., said William Newell, special agent in charge, ATF, Phoenix field division.

Newell said agents found five of them strapped underneath a truck heading for the border two weeks ago. Then they found 13 more two days later.

Agents said a women made a straw purchase of 13 in Phoenix, meaning she lied, saying the guns were for her, when they were, in fact, going to a Mexican drug cartel.

"The issue is she was trying to earn some money," Newell said. "And it's unfortunate, because, now, she's in big trouble."

Newell said gun trafficking to Mexico has increased as the Mexican government tries to address drug cartels more fiercely.

"They're using firearms such as these to fight the fight," Newell said. "It's a war, is what it is. It's a war."

Newell said 95 percent of the guns seized in Mexico are from the U.S.

It is unfortunate when illegal behavior is easier and more profitable than an honest days work. And they wonder why 3rd world countries are so sleezie and corrupt. If you want an educated and forward going society, there's got to be some incentive to do so......which right wrong or indifferent.... is Money. Since that's what it takes to get the things you need. Why put yourself in debt and go to college when you can make 10x's more selling drugs? Tax free. Why grow corn when pot or poppies is so much more profitable and you're talking basic survival. Why work for minimum wage when illegal is so much easier? I don't for a second wonder why people do it.....it's how to make the "good" side worth going to when basic survival is at stake.

Exactly crazybird. I've spent some time studying the illegal drug trade and it's relationship to our tanking economy. Americans spend $400 Billion a year on illegal recreational drugs. The entire industry is controlled by criminal violent illegal foreign drug cartels sucking this money supply out of our country from peddling drugs on street corners, alleys, parks and school grounds with 757s in their pocket or assault rifles slung on their shoulders.

It's time for Americans to end the War on Drugs and take control of their own drug trade. We need to legalize and regulate the industry controlled by Americans under a civil code, not a criminal code with rare exception, tax the transactions under the FairTax, and then use part of the tax revenues to better educate Americans on the risk of use and provide Rehabilitation Without Stigma for anyone who wants or needs the help.

Because drugs are illegal, this trade serves as a magnet for illegal aliens and drug smuggling bringing in the illegal drugs, then once here peddling them in every crook and cranny of America, and when they've got a suitcase full of our nation's cash, they haul it straight out of the country and it never returns.

It's time to stop the nonsense and replace it with a pragmatic regulated trade operated solely by US Citizens from a to z.

My daughter has friends that were doing quite well with illegal endeavors. They did 100% better as high school drop outs than any college educated kid. They got married, had a child and were seriously trying to lead an honerable life because they didn't want to hurt their wife or children. Doesn't take too many "Daddy I'm hungry", or comming home because the utilities have been cut off to wonder what's good about abiding by the law." Trust me.....money sure doesn't reward you....it's one of those moral and spiritual things that makes you do it with no guarentee of a pay off. I swear the book of Job was my lifeline and I still have no proof it was all worth it either. It literally is a leap of faith.

Working at Mc Donalds should be more profitable than selling drugs or posing for a porno pic. But it's not. Darn....get it on with a rich dude with pics and you are set for life!!!!! That should be what the truely uneducated dumb f's do for a living......but it's not. They pay you to donate eggs, but not to have a child. They give you a pittance or sheer donation for a pint of blood and charge you an arm and a leg to get one. You donate your organs yet go into bankrupsey to get one.

Kind of a-backwards to me. Literally....it sickens me as to what we have become.

Guess risk is also the factor. I was told by a police officer that on the average there are 10 crimes committed before you get caught at your first one. Wonder how those odds play in the stock market? It's a risk too.

We've had illegals, in their first year here, who made enough money to retire on. And legal law abiding citizens who are waiting on their pay-off years later. Decades later.

I know Dr. Phil says....hey, does it work? Sad to say....illegal works and legal doesn't. Being an illegal alien is more profitiable and easy than being a law abiding citizen.
