Senate panel to hear testimony on border violence

PHOENIX -- The U.S Senate's homeland security committee will hear testimony Monday in Phoenix from Gov. Jan Brewer, Attorney General Terry Goddard and other officials who will offer advice on dealing with violence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Sen. John McCain of Arizona, a member of the committee, says smugglers have made the border unsafe and that the U.S. needs to act quickly to secure the border.

The committee's chairman, Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, has said he plans to seek $380 million in additional funding to help law enforcement stop the flow of guns and drugs across the border.

Other guests include Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, Tohono O'odham Nation Chairman Ned Norris Jr. and Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever.

Got that right. I couldn't believe what I saw of news clips of them literally in mob rule, run down people and pummel them in the streets and think all is well. Ions ago, I visited Phoenix and it's just unbelievable to think that's what it's like now.

Ask the American people what they need to remedy the problem

Responcible American people having guns may be the solution not the problem.
