D.C.'s love for pot
D.C.'s love for pot

Washington, D.C., where laws are debated and put into action each day, has a growing reputation. No, it has nothing to do with our "buttoned-up" appearance. Rather, the national capital may have the country's strongest fondness for weed - and it's only growing, according to a new study.
Now, D.C. has voted to legalize medical marijuana. With the passing of medical marijuana and new statistics attesting to the drug's popularity in the District, does greater enforcement need to be put in place? Or should residents be allowed to smoke up as they please?

This is disgraceful to think about. Our nation's lawmakers in a sea of potheads.

Many from the "Woodstock generation" now serve in Congress and in other positions of responsibility and power in Washington. Below from a Mother Jones article on a conservative from California:
Dana Rohrabacher's War
"It's the kind of adventure that has earned the Orange County Republican, who's 62, a reputation as "colorful," or, as some put it, "bat-shit crazy." He's a banjo-playing, folk-singing, arch-conservative surfer, who—at a time when other politicians insisted they'd never inhaled—publicly proclaimed he'd done "everything but drink the bong water."

I'd rather them smoke the weed instead of cocaine or meth.
At least the weed is more likely to be American made and less likely to turn them into super freaks.
