MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Public hearings across Wisconsin have been scheduled to gather input on how to clean up elections in the state.

The state Assembly's Committee on Elections and Campaign Reform plan stops in Madison, Green Bay, the Milwaukee area and Eau Claire this month.

The hearings are designed to hear from people about public financing of elections and campaign finance reform.

Committee chairman Rep. Jeff Smith, a Democrat from Eau Claire, says the hearings won't be focused on any one proposal.

The first hearing will be on Thursday in both Madison and Green Bay with teleconferencing linking the two sites.

The other hearings are Oct. 14 in Franklin, a Milwaukee suburb, and Oct. 15 in Eau Claire.
