All of the stars mark US military bases - Any wonder to why Iran feels threatened? Besides the assassination of 4 of their scientists, our 1953 coup of their DEMOCRACY, and the fact we funded and armed Saddam Hussein with chemical weapons to fight them... Sure their gov't is a mess, but any military action will only cause suffering for the average people, who are struggling to survive and overthrow oppression. Not trade tyrannical government for a foreign army of occupation that does not understand or respect them or their culture in any way.
Romney Supervised Medical Testing Company Guilty Of Massive Medicare Fraud
« on: January 24, 2012, 01:43:58 PM »
In 1989, Bain Capital purchased controlling interest in Damon Corp., a medical testing company located in Needham, Massachusetts.
During the time that Bain held its ownership of the company, Mitt Romney personally sat on the Board of Directors. And during that same period, Damon Corp. was busy submitting fraudulent reimbursement claims to Medicare to the tune of millions of dollars charged for unnecessary blood tests.
According to federal government prosecutors, Damon was misleading physicians into ordering unnecessary blood tests, assuring the doctors that the testing would be covered by Medicare.
By the time Damon Corp. pleaded guilty to defrauding the United States Government of $25 million—and paid a total of $119 million in what was, at that time, the largest penalty of its kind in Massachusetts history—Bain was long gone having sold the company in 1993 to Corning, Inc.
Inasmuch as neither Romney nor Bain was ever implicated in the fraud, it would be reasonable to conclude that while the illegal activity was going on under Mr. Romney’s nose, Romney would, himself, bear only some responsibility for perhaps not being as on top of things as one might hope for a company’s director to be.
But, according to Romney, such a conclusion would be wrong.
When Mitt Romney was confronted with the matter during his campaign to become the Governor of Massachusetts, Romney acknowledged that he did have some awareness of the funky things going on at Damon.
According to The Deseret News-
“More than a decade later, when Romney was in pursuit of the Massachusetts governorship, his Democratic opponent Shannon O’Brien accused him of lax oversight at Damon and failing to report the fraud.
Romney replied that he had helped uncover the illegal activity at Damon, asking the board’s lawyers to investigate. As a result, he said, the board took “corrective action” before selling the company in 1993 to Corning Inc.
So, then, the future Governor and candidate for his party’s nomination to run for the presidency, did fulfill his obligation as a great American and did report the fraud to the proper authorities, right?
Apparently not.
According to the court records, “…the Damon executives’ scheme continued throughout Bain’s ownership, and prosecutors credited Corning, not Romney, with cleaning up the situation.”
But there is an explanation – it turns out that the Damon experience was a foreshadowing of the Mitt Romney to come as he engaged in one of his now infamous episodes of flip-flopping.
You see, before Romney indicated that he was involved in conducting an investigation while he was on the board of directors, he said that he was completely unaware of any investigation.
Here’s another shocker. While the company eventually went bankrupt, with thousands losing their jobs, Bain Capital walked away with a $12 million profit—a little over $400,000 of that money ending up in Mitt’s pocket.
Expect to hear a lot more about this in the coming days as AFSCME has spent close to one million dollars in advertising buys throughout the state of Florida to highlight this misadventure.

CNN Poll Shows Ron Paul Most Likely Beats Obama In November, Newt Does Not
Submitted by Doug Eberhardt on Sun, 01/22/2012 - 15:42 in
The message that needs to be spread is...a vote for Newt is a vote for defeat in November...a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Victory over Obama.
A CNN Poll shows Ron Paul in statistical tie with Barack Obama if they were to face each other in the Presidential election this November.
CNN Poll: Obama tied with Romney & Paul in November showdowns – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs
Newt Gingrich is 9% behind Obama and doesn't stand a chance against Obama come November.
Democrats know this and want Gingrich or Romney to be the Republican candidate as they know the 99% won't go for either of them. That's why the MSNBC shows with Matthews, Schulz and Maddow always try to promote either of them over Ron Paul.
Here are the facts...
Ron Paul can beat Obama on Peace, not war. Obama said he would get us out of the wars "the first thing in office, and he failed.
Ron Paul can beat Obama on civil liberties as he is against the Patriot Act and Obama extended the Patriot Act.
Ron Paul wants to close Guantanamo and Obama said he would, but failed again.
Ron Paul will cut $1 trillion from the budget the first year in office and Obama is increasing our debt by trillions enslaving our youth for decades to come.
Most of our youth are voting for Ron Paul this time around instead of Obama because they are tired of being lied to and are concerned about their future. They also don't want to be drafted, which is probably a given should Gingrich, Romney or Santorum become President as all they want to do is bomb, bomb bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.
If you are Evangelical and fall for the Fox News propaganda...

Japanese Want U.S. Bases Out of Okinawa!
Submitted by healthnut4freedom on Tue, 01/24/2012 - 16:24
This is really outrageous. People ridicule Dr. Paul but these people want us out of their country!
"A 24-member delegation from Japan is in Washington, D.C., this week opposing the presence and new construction of U.S. military bases in Okinawa. Participating are members of the Japanese House of Councilors, of the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly, and of city governments in Okinawa, as well as leading protest organizers and the heads of several important organizations opposed to the ongoing U.S. military occupation of Okinawa.
The famously stingy U.S. tax payer, frequently seen bitterly protesting outrageously wasteful spending of a few million dollars, is paying billions of dollars to maintain and expand some 90 military bases in Japan (and to make those who profit from such business filthy rich). Thirty-four of those bases, containing 74% of their total land area, are in Okinawa, which itself contains only 0.6% of Japanese land. Okinawa is dominated by U.S. military bases and has been for 67 years since the U.S. forcibly appropriated much of the best land.
The people of Okinawa tell pollsters year after year that they oppose the bases. Year after year they elect government officials who oppose the bases. Year after year they march, sit-in, protest, and demand to be heard. Year after year, the national Japanese government confronts the issue and fails to take any decisive steps to resolve it. Year after year, the people of the United States remain blissfully unaware that, as in so many other places around the world, our military occupation of Okinawa is ruining people's lives."

One of the quotes from the article is about Ecuador's president and how he solved the problem "the President of Ecuador seems to have found the magic formula in his proposal that any U.S. base in Ecuador be matched by an Ecuadorean base in Florida."

All I can say is I thank you people here on the Daily Paul. When I came here over 4 years ago, it was because of the Income Tax issue. I found it hard to swallow all this talk about liberty and decriminalization of drugs at the federal level and opposition to the war.
Being a Neocon Evangelical Pastor, I questioned if I even belonged here at all. I stuck around because I thought I was going to be able to educate some of you to reality like a good Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin disciple.
What happened I did not expect ... you guys opened my eyes. I won't drone on all that long about these issues but the war ... THE WAR. How could I have been so blind? I did not and could not understand your hatred for THIS WAR. But now I understand.
This WAR is pure EVIL !!! Even until recently I used to think if Dr. Paul could just not speak so loudly about this war maybe he could win. I COULD NOT BE ANY MORE WRONG.
I as a Pastor need to speak against this evil ... it is my duty ... and I am calling out the clergy in this nation to speak up and out against this wickedness. I just watched this video which would explain why so many of our kids are choosing to end their lives then live with what they have witnessed. This is such a national tragedy ... a grievous sin

Ron Paul Responds To Obama's State Of The Union Speech
"Tonight, President Obama once again showed that he does not represent the fundamental change this country needs."
LAKE JACKSON, Texas - See below for 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul's response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address.
"Tonight, President Obama once again showed that he does not represent the fundamental change this country needs. Instead of offering solutions to the problems our country faces, the President was intent on delivering a campaign speech, further dealing in the typical Washington political gamesmanship that has gotten us exactly nowhere close to improving the lives of the American people.

Unfortunately, President Obama's 'job creation' policies amount to little more than continuing to allow government bureaucrats to pick winners and losers, which is a recipe for continued economic stagnation.
"President Obama claims to want an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules. Ron Paul starts campaign to end the TSA
Published: 24 January, 2012, 22:05
Ron Paul has long opposed the TSA and has campaigned for its abolishment for years. Following an episode on Monday that left his son, Sen. Rand Paul, stranded in a Nashville airport, the presidential hopeful is asking for help to finally end the TSA.
In most cases, the TSA has responded apologetically and addressed the issue. For Ron Paul, that’s not enough. While a “sorry” might be soothing for some, it has still victimized many Americans, he says. When the TSA wrote of their track record for 2011 in a blog post published earlier this year, they addressed that, even with an $8 billion budget, their “Top 10 Good Catches” of the year included nothing monumental. Instead, rather, the TSA wrote that their best finds of 2011 included a handful of reptiles and, in one instance, the science project of a college student. By the end of the year, the US Travel Association reported that two-out-of-five travelers during the December holiday season were trying to seek other modes of transportation.
On his own site, Ron Paul quotes Rep. John Mica (R. -Fla.), chairman of the House Transportation Committee and co-creator of the TSA, who himself has grown weary of the government agency.

Meanwhile Romney dropped from 32% to 26%, putting Ron Paul decisively in the lead among younger voters! Gallup's Frank Newport cautiously writes, "Young adults still show above-average support for Paul."

Yesterday my son, Senator Rand Paul, was detained by the TSA in Nashville, prevented from making his flight, and missed his commitment to speak at the March for Life in Washington, D.C.
All because he refused to be the latest victim of the TSA’s disgusting full body pat-downs.
I’m proud of my son’s stand, but there are many more who receive this kind of treatment every day – and never have a chance to speak out.
Please, make your most generous contribution today to my End the TSA Money Bomb so I can have every possible resource to win this race, abolish the out-of-control TSA, and lead the fight to keep our nation safe - instead of allowing bureaucrats to continue sacrificing our security for this theatrical sham.

Marine with Silver Star voting for Ron Paul
Submitted by PKnuckle101 on Mon, 01/23/2012 - 19:07
10 years ago, I was applying to West Point. My brother was 2 years older than me and just working small jobs and playing baseball after highschool. 9/11 happened and (knowing I had researched the different military services) he asked me, "If I want to fight, I mean really get in the fight...what service should I join?"
Later that day, he called my dad and asked for a ride. "From where?" was my dad's response. His heart dropped a little (and my mother's alot) when he said "the Marine Corps Recruiting Station". He had just signed up. He did 4 tours in Iraq. On his 2nd tour he was involved in fighting in Fallujah and helped save his Platoon Commander's life and lead his surrounded unit to safety. This action earned him the Silver Star (3rd highest award for valor in the military). He'd kill me for writing this (he isn't on DailyPaul) because he rarely speaks of that day. But you can read the full story here:
Heroes: Cpl. Abraham McCarver | America's North Shore Journal
He has never voted. He, like many of us, has been disgusted by politics for years. "They're all the same", he says. Weeks ago, he started asking me about this guy I'm always talking about, Ron Paul. I didn't push him; I just told him to youtube him. He came back weeks later and asked me more- the hook was in. I told him why I have never voted either, and why I will vote for Ron Paul and only Ron Paul.
Today, my brother registered as a Republican in Colorado in order to vote for Ron Paul. Is it sad that I am more proud of him today than when he was awarded the Silver Star for Valor? I don't think so. His vote will save so many more lives than his hands did in 2004.

Bill O’Reilly hits a new low with his latest attack on Ron Paul. Thanks to Jerry Doyle for bringing to light an amazing attempt by O’Reilly to attached the Joe Paterno sex abuse scandal and Ron Paul’s fight to end the war on drugs. O’Reilly has stepped over the line once again and is sure to receive some more massive Blowback from Paul supporters.
Meanwhile the plot thickens, during Jerry Doyle’s show he exposes some unsavory behind the scenes shakedown attempts by Fox News, Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly. They called Doyle and threatened to find a way to take him down after his endorsement of Ron Paul. Doyle wasn’t phased by this and he came out today saying that he has dirt on Bill O’Reilly, he has the names and the places?
Folks, all I can say is that this is getting really interesting. What does Jerry Doyle know about Bill O’Reilly?

Fox Attempts to Discredit Ron Paul with “Oklahoma Inside Job” Newsletter
Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
January 24, 2012
On the heels of Ron Paul’s South Carolina promise to continue forward with his quest to gain the Republican nomination and the presidency, Fox News has dredged up an yet another newsletter attributed to him in an effort to sabotage the Paul campaign.
“Full of racist, anti-Semitic, and homophobic statements, not to mention a variety of quack science and conspiracy theories, the newsletters have once again become an issue as Paul seeks to stay in the Republican presidential primary for the long haul,” Fox Nation reported on Monday in a repost of a BuzzFeed article.
The newsletter in question mentions the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and puts the event in a light that questions the official government generated narrative: “We’re far from knowing everything, or even many things, about the horrific bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building,” Fox Nation quotes.
“Some people even think that the government itself could have been responsible. The government would not use its own agents, these people say. Spy agencies frequently use ‘false-flag’ recruitment. That is, the crazed men recruited into a ‘right-wing’ terrorist cell would not know they were actually working for the BATF, for example.”
The newsletter does not claim that the Oklahoma terror event was an inside job. It merely mentions that some people have questioned the official story, an act that is heretical to the government and its propaganda tools, including Fox News. Anything less than unquestioning acceptance of the government narrative is permissible.
Fox, of course, does not bother to mention the fact the government’s investigation of the attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City that killed 168 people was not only deeply flawed, but obviously a thinly veiled cover-up.
From the questionable physics of the explosions to evidence of cutter charges being used to witnesses to multiple explosions and more, the government’s story does not hold up under scrutiny. Moreover, the government went out of its way during the trial of Timothy McVeigh – a documented government agent – to refuse relevant witnesses to testify. The hit piece does not mention that key witnesses were murdered and grand jury members were threatened.
James Kirchick, writing for BuzzFeed, attempts to discredit Paul by linking him to Alex Jones: “Paul has long cultivated the support of conspiracy theorists, as evidenced by the content of the newsletters and his frequent appearances on the radio program of Alex Jones, perhaps the most listened-to conspiracy theorist in America.”
http://static.infowars.com/2012/01/i...ges/surrep.png
Kirchick’s conspiracy theory pejorative is to be expected. He is a fellow at the warmongering neocon Foundation for Defense of Democracies and the neocons are currently engaged in an effort to destroy Ron Paul’s campaign in response to his common sense call to bring the troops home and put an end to the wars waged by the neocons.
Millions of Americans are not deterred by the establishment media’s effort to derail Paul’s campaign by exploiting the long ago put to bed newsletter issue. They are interested in constitutional government and a restoration of our lost republic and will not be sidetracked by the efforts of chicken hawk neocons to wreck the Paul campaign at all cost.

Oliver Stone: I Would Vote For Ron Paul Over Obama
“He’s the only one who’s saying anything intelligent about the world”
Steve Watson
Infowars.com
January 24, 2012
http://southoftheborderdoc.com/wp-co...iver_stone.jpg
Acclaimed film director Oliver Stone, known for such masterpieces as Platoon, JFK and Born on the Fourth of July, has declared he would vote for Ron Paul over Barack Obama, if Paul could secure the 2012 GOP nomination.
Stone made the comments in an interview with Rock Cellar magazine, noting “I think in many ways the most interesting candidate — I’d even vote for him if he was running against Obama — is Ron Paul.”
“He’s the only one of anybody who’s saying anything intelligent about the future of the world.” Stone added.
When asked if an economic collapse would lead to the fall of the American “empire”, Stone responded “I think it’s a given.”
“There’s no way that we can continue this spending spree.” The Wall Street director added.
In 2008, Stone was an outspoken Obama supporter and donated the maximum amounts legally possible to the Obama campaign, calling the eventual president the “heir to John F. Kennedy.”
However, he now has a very different view of Obama.
“Obama… in welcoming home the troops was saying how we had achieved “stability, freedom and democracy” in Iraq. It was the same language that Bush used – and Obama was the guy who called Iraq a “dumb war.”” Stone said.
“So you tell me, what have we learned? Or who’s faking, or who’s kidding who? Why is it necessary for every candidate – except for Ron Paul – to pay obeisance to this hypocrisy that the U.S. is a good force in the world, and that it is the dominant force, and can be the policeman of the world? Since when? What gave us that right? The right of empire, the right of force?” Stone added.
Earlier this year Oliver Stone’s son, Sean, appeared exclusively on the Alex Jones show to discuss his father’s work, both their political views, and his own new film project titled Greystone.

Ron Paul Responds To Obama's
State Of The Union Speech
"Tonight, President Obama once again showed that he
does not represent the fundamental change this country needs."
"In a speech where much of the rhetoric was devoted to job creation, it was strange that President Obama would brag about his job-destroying national health care plan, Obamacare, and the Dodd-Frank bill, which, contrary to the President's claims, guarantees future taxpayer bailouts of large institutions.
Yet he remains committed to the same old system of debt, deficits, bailouts, and cronyism that created our economic problems. The President speaks of giving us energy independence from unstable nations, yet he refuses to allow the type of development needed to achieve this goal, while at the same time his administration hands out favors to the politically connected - those given to the likes of Solyndra, who fail to produce jobs or energy but succeed in ripping off the taxpayers.
"Of course, President Obama refuses to even mention the role the Federal Reserve plays in creating an economic system where some are denied a fair shot or even to support my efforts at bringing transparency to the Federal Reserve. Also not mentioned by President Obama is the very crucial need for reining in spending and balancing the federal budget. What is called by some 'the greatest threat to our national security' seems not to be of great importance to this President, although I, like many Americans, believe it to be cause for immediate measures, like the $1 trillion in spending cuts that would take place in my first year as President under my Plan to Restore America.
"In the area of foreign policy and civil liberties, President Obama's rhetoric may be different, but the substance of his polices - as shown by his administration's defense of the TSA's treatment of my son, Senator Rand Paul, is hardly 'change we can believe in.' No wonder more and more Americans, especially young people, are rejecting the phony alternatives of Obama and establishment Republicans and embracing my campaign to Restore America Now."
