Raleigh (NC), Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) is calling on state lawmakers and the IRS to stop the non profit organization El Pueblo from lobbying for benefits for illegal aliens in North Carolina.

El Pueblo is a front organization for La Raza (The Race) and they receive over $400,000 in taxpayer grants each year. IRS regulations say that 501(c)3 organizations are not to engage in lobbying, yet El Pueblo has recently announced a legislative push to provide licenses, in-state tuition, and other benefits for illegal aliens in NC. Using taxpayer funds to lobby lawmakers puts NC citizens at a disadvantage.

"It is utterly ridiculous that El Pueblo is using the tax dollars of NC citizens to turn around and lobby for more funds and for benefits for illegal aliens.", says William Gheen of ALIPAC. "Over 80% of our LEGAL citizens oppose licenses and in-state tuition for illegal aliens. Our citizens should not have to fight their own tax dollars at work lobbying for these radical benefits for illegals."

ALIPAC plans to file a formal complaint with the IRS and ask the IRS to investigate and to remove El Pueblo's nonprofit 501(C)3 status for engaging in extensive lobbying. El Pueblo hired lobbyists Paula Wolf and Paula Bazoon Manson as their primary lobbyists in 2005 to push HB 1183 "In-state tuition for illegal aliens" which failed.

Citizen activists will be calling on state Legislators, and the Governor, to remove the hundreds of thousands of tax grants that are given to El Pueblo each year.

"State government should not be providing tax dollars and benefits to illegal aliens and their supporting groups like El Pueblo." says Gheen. "El Pueblo should be free to lobby, but not as a nonprofit organization and taxpayer funded group."

ALIPAC is an NC based national organization comprised of activists representing every race and political party. ALIPAC was credited with helping to defeat in-state tuition for illegal aliens in 2005 and helped to pass immigration enforcement laws in NC in 2006 which included state support for more license security and local law enforcement efforts to apprehend illegal aliens. William Gheen recently registered as a lobbyist again in NC to address these issues.

I just now became aware of this one - I could be too late, oh well...

    Just one question:

Citizen activists will be calling on state Legislators, and the Governor, to remove the hundreds of thousands of tax grants that are given to El Pueblo each year.
Do you mean to say (?):

"Citizen activists will be calling on state Legislators, and the Governor, to end the hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax grants that are given to El Pueblo each year.

WooHoo!, way to go William! This kind of double dipping, conflict of interest and public funding of criminal activity has been a source of real irritation and I'm very hyped to see some action, Yea!

They advocate illegal activity and they behave illegally.
