Welcome to ALIPAC StevenP! We may have to keep looking for candidate to support for President. Like I've posted elsewhere, we are in our Period of Ironies and Opposites, so we will have to dig deep, far and wide to get to the bottom of what these candidates really believe so we'll know what they'll really do if elected to public office. I'm still so disappointed in Lou and would like to see a contact between William and Lou on camera so we can fully understand what is going on.
Seems like Dobbs is trying not to alienate Hispanics by tip toeing around
the illegal immigrant issue. Illegal is illegal. Doing something illegal makes you a criminal. It seem like it happens to most who start making a political run. They start compromising their opinions and values.
The LA times even picked up Lou Dobbs flip flopping and his entry into politics.

Lou Dobbs was against alien amnesty before he was for it
November 25, 2009 | 4:46 am
In the surest sign yet that the newly-former CNN talker seriously plans to enter politics, Lou Dobbs has already flip-flopped on the question of amnesty for people illegally living in this country.
Having created much of his fame and infamy out of controversial statements on the unacceptable presence of an estimated 12 million undocumented workers in this country and the federal government's ineptitude in addressing the problem, here's what Dobbs now says:
We need the ability to legalize illegal immigrants under certain conditions.
His surprising switcheroo barely two weeks after departing his network of nearly 30 years came during an interview with the Spanish-language network Telemundo, first reported by the Wall Street Journal. Dobbs, a Texas native and graduate of Harvard, currently lives on a 300-acre farm in northwest New Jersey, where he could run for a U.S. Senate seat.
Or possibly launch a presidential bid for 2012, trying to tap into the kinds of conservative populist anger that has confounded the Republican party and fueled so-called "tea parties" across the country this year, protesting taxes, spending and deficits.
"Whatever you have thought of me in the past," Dobbs told Telemundo's Maria Celeste the other day, "I can tell you right now that I am one of your greatest friends and I mean for us to work together. I hope that will begin with Maria and me and Telemundo and other media organizations and others in this national debate that we should turn into a solution rather than a continuing debate and factional contest."
The Garden state usually votes firmly Democratic. But earlier this month voters there rejected the reelection bid of incumbent Democrat Gov. Jon Corzine, who had ample money and the frequent campaign support of President Obama and elected a Republican on a "taxes are too high" platform.
The next U.S. Senate election in New Jersey comes in 2012 when incumbent Democrat Robert Menendez faces his first reelection race.

Ha !!
He should have asked her when the last time she had her MMR vaccine!
I did not even have to watch the whole video to see it was heading south. No pund intended.
Since when does the United States have to explain itself to Mexico, or any other country.
I am waiting for someone who has the guts to speak the truth!
If you want to come to the United States, come in the correct door, and start to take up your burden, and carry your own weight, and not expect the hardworking legal American to pay your way. This among other things.
When we have a person who can speak the truth, then they will get my vote.
As most folks have stated, it looks like Lou is toning down his position and rhetoric. Possibly in recognition that he needs to secure the support of legal immigrants. The left is attempting to demonize Lou not only with the illegal aliens but also with legal immigrants. So most likely Lou is in a defensive mode to minimize the damage the far left is causing.
This does not necessarily translate to backpedaling on his beliefs or positions. It is merely recognition of reality, that is, the media works for the far left and he has to manage damage control.
Finally, to the critics of his interview, don't rush to judgement. Public life is much more complicated than you might think. Trust your instincts... you know a good man when you see and hear one.
Unfortunately I'm currently unable to view much of the interview, being on a dial up connection. Even if I could, I have an exceptionally difficult time hearing him past the Spanish translator on the YouTube video.
I can only go by the posted comments here, much of what are not very flattering to Lou. I watched him for years on CNN. Due to CNN's liberal slant, it became the only time I did watch the network. Now that's gone.
In the months before he left his show, I seemed to notice a change in his broadcasts. I've felt somewhat betrayed that he had taken a more liberal stance on a number of issues including the Afghan War and, if true, now on illegal immigration.
When will people realize the war against illegal immigration is just that, A WAR. There is no reason on earth to alter any of our immigration laws with the possible exception of increasing penalties for Illegal Aliens and employers who hire them. There is no reason to grant an amnesty for those who thumb their nose at our laws, misuse our welfare systems and take advantage of our benevolent attitude toward LEGAL immigrants.
When will we get RESPONSIBLE Representatives in Congress and an administration in DC that will effectively deal with the criminals that enter our country on a daily basis?
I urge each and everyone that reads this post to get involved in a local TEA party organization to remove deceptive politicians from Congress in 2010.
Do your Patriotic Duty to fight the war against Illegal Immigration !!
I would not vote for Lou after I have seen this video. I also would have to know what his stand is on Abortion, 2nd Amendment and Gay Marriage. I have to know what a person believes in more than Amnesty. Right now he's hedging and that doesn't look good.
I watched his eye movements, hands, mouth, and even his smile which - to me - is his signature. I don't recall Lou shifting his eyes as much on any of his shows as he did during this interview. My reason for mentioning this is because I couldn't help but wonder whether or not this was truly Lou Dobbs or an individual imitating him.
If it was Lou, then I'm surprised that he seems to have backed down from his previous stance against the problem of illegal immigration. I'm equally surprised that he agreed to appear on Telemundo; however, I feel he should be given the opportunity to explain his actions before we render final judgment.
After listening to him speak, he sounds like every other politician who is courting the illegal immigrant vote--regardless of their origin (Mexico, Central/South America, Africa, middle east, etc)...
After listening to him talk, I certainly won't be contributing to his campaign or voting for him. I do not think that ALIPAC should support him--there are far better candidates coming down the line and we should be throwing our support behind them!!!
" We need the ability to legalize illegal immigrants under certain conditions"
You need to come down to Florida when he does and take him to lunch at the Breakers -- invite David Horowitz, Glenn Beck, Lt. Allen West, Joyce Kaufman and Rush Limbaugh and sit down and ask him what he meant about that comment. Give him a chance to qualify it -- witht he ideas he has about what kind of "conditions' and let everyone give him their 2cents worth and he can work up something from there.

Far better candidates for a Senate Run? In Democratic held New Jersey? That could be debatable.

Lou Dobbs for President...I certainly hope not. How can he run on just one issue? Illegal immigration!
I think what Lou Dobbs was saying is the same thing most of us have said for the past several years. We will probably have to give amnesty, under certain conditions, to those illegals here now. However, that cannot be done until the American citizens can be absolutely certain that the border is secure so not more illegals can come into this country.
The U.S. has granted amnesty to illegals many times in the past. If we do not secure the border but give amnesty, we will visit this problem again and again.
He is clearly pandering for the Latino votes and he is acting like a complete ASS based on the fact that he refuses to stand up for what he has railed about for the past 5 years.
He is no better than any of the other lying garbage we have in govt today. He will lie to us to get into office and then do the will of the one world order. If he can be this weak this early on, then he does not have the spine for this. We need someone who will FIGHT for our nation, and not sell out our nation like all the rest. This is not in the best interest of the United States and the millions of out of work American, nor our Constitution or laws.
Lou Dobbs just sold us OUT!
We need the ability to legalize illegal immigrants under certain conditions.
I think that the his conditions are the fine print that no one who is smart enough to consider will do so. The liberals only hear the first part of the sentence, the thinking conservatives will read into the second part of the sentence (and know that his historical qualifications put him in a good position to fight for deportation). Next time a good journalist gets aholdo f him I hope they ask him to clarify that statement.
Close borders, entry and exist program, E-Verify, SAVE, 287g PROGRAM,
CLOSE THE BORDERS - NO AMNESTY! DEPORT ALL 15 million undocumented with their illegal anchor babies.
ILLEGAL IS ILLEGAL! DEPORT THEM ALL FROM AROUND THE WORLD! DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT THEM IN THE BUTTOCK. FIRE CONGRESS - WE AMERICANS BOUGHT THE SOUTHERN BORDER FROM THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT. BEING NATIVE AMERICAN AND EARLIER SETTLER ANCESTRY I AM HAPPY TO DEPORT ALL UNDOCUMENTED AND ILLEGAL FROM MY COUNTRY.
Everybody needs to slow down here!
First and foremost, I don't care if we had the most perfect, electable person that WANTED/NEEDED to help America, ready to take the office of the President of the United states, If we don't clean, AND I MEAN CLEAN UP, and REMOVE the corrupt politicians from ALL branches of our Government, we will NEVER save this country from the one world order!
We need to focus our energy and voting power to replace ALL politicians who vote against the constitution and not applying laws already on the books.
We need to focus on 2010 elections now, not the unlikely future puppet that will be placed into the president of the United States chair in 2012!
Here's a thought you might want to ponder, Is this just another clever way of distracting the American people from the real problem in this country? A Congress, Senate and house of Representatives that only care about their individual powers, not what is BEST for our Great Country!
Again, I say focus on the local level, if we clean up all the corrupt politicians from ALL parties in office, we make a difference at the federal level as well!
Think, and read between the lines, and QUESTION EVERYONE DEEPLY
WHO WANTS TO BECOME AN ELECTED OFFICIAL OF THIS COUNTRY!
Something that was NOT done by the Media, our presently elected officials, or us, the American people, before this train wreck of a president was (?)elected(?) into the Office of the President of the United States! This man, Obama didn't even know how many states were in the union, I mean come on!
He who does not know history of his own country should NEVER be elected to such an important office!
Time to hold elected members of Government ACCOUNTABLE for what they've done to this great NATION!
Funny how they blame the PEOPLE for what is happening, not their buddies(Bankers,Wall Street,Elected Officials), and are RELYING on these very same people to fix what THEY purposely have done to this country!
Then again, We did put these People in office, question is; do we have what it takes to stop voting these idiot non American schmucks into office,
or will we just do like they say.
IF ALL WE DO IS WHAT THEY SAY, THEN ALL WE'VE LEARNED IS HOW TO OBEY!
FREE YOUR MINDS PEOPLE!

I am so glad to have seen this now. We need the kind of man or woman in the Whitehouse, who will stand up to LIES and CORRUPTION with a NO TOLERANCE POLICY. Like Sherriff Joe in Arizona.
We need someone who will call crap like Maria to task and ask her to define the word illegal and ask her to explain the 100% rise in crime in cities all across America, like rape of children and latino gangs, and the murder of innocent citizens which is mostly due to the rise in the illegal population. Most of crimes committed in America today have been done by illegals. This is very well documented.
How about the fact that their country has no such forgiveness policy toward illegals in their countries. He will NEVER go there.
The fact that he did not go to her show armed with ammo to protect his prior stand and America, to put her in her place, was completely revealing of the kind of obama he will become once elected.
My only hope is Lou is playing politics. If he wants to win in Jersey he has to (hopefully make believe) he's for helping illegals. If you live in Jersey you know that they probably do vote ( yes even though they aren't supposed to ) He would never win if he hard nosed against them. Remember what happened to Tencredo. Jersey is very corrupt and illegals have a strong foot hold here. Lou I hope your just playing their game.
In New Jersey prove you are a US citizen before you vote, is the answer to the problem. Watch those illegals and crooks, then.

I think Dobbs was posturing during the interview.
The reality in NJ, where Dobbs would be running, is that there are many vicious ultra-liberals, including many immigrants, who use his past statements as a litmus test for whether to vote for him or not. NJ is a Blue state these days , sad to say, so if he runs for office he will have to try to appease the liberals, including Hispanics. Frankly, if Lou says on the air, "we are going to deport them all" , he's not going to get very far.
Wait to see Dobbs' apponents before you write him off. In NJ his opponents will no doubt include moonbats ala "the chosen one". So I am happy Lou did not bow during the interview, or apologize for the Sheriff.
---
One main problem is our corrupt political system within which Lou has to work (and we have to live) unfortunately.
I appreciate the patriotism and all in this blog. But we guys have to realize that there are growing populatons of other cultures in the U.S. It nauseates and aggravates me that this is what has happened.
One real solution is for God fearing Americans to start having babies like gangbusters.
Great reply SEEKER. You are absolutely right and are talking about the very approach that C4L is doing and has done since it's inception.
Even sites like ALIPAC should be involved in the C4L approach to educate, promote and support local candidates that support our views and the health and success of our nation.
I know they do regarding illegal immigration, but the fight is so much bigger than that.
Right now, all our efforts need to be consolidated into a unified force rather than fractionalized and marginalized into single issues. It's like treating a mole that's changing colors instead of recognizing the underlying source, that the body is riddled with cancer.
Amnesty. He comments represent amnesty and he is clearly indicating that he is for amnesty for illegals. This is outragous - and then apologizing for not being able to speak Spanish? This guy is dangerous and will side with illegals just to get voted in. He see's what Obama is doing and probably believes that all he has to do is say what people want to hear then after being elected into office, he will ignore what the people are saying and do only what suits him. NO SUPPORT FROM ME.
Actually, the interview was not that bad and the ranting on this site is just adding to the left’s propaganda material. Maybe he was told the interview would pertain only to his plan for illegal immigration/moving forward, and was side swiped by that imbecile of a host. He mentioned several times how much time had been wasted discussing the other subjects. You don’t change overnight so calm down and see what happens before everyone jumps ship.
I'm going to take a "wait and see" attitude here. I've pledged on ALIPACs site to support Lou. I won't go back on that pledge until I have more information. For example, I'd like Lou to clarify what he means by "legalize under certain conditions". I think that one phrase is what has everyone going over the top today.
He continued to say we can't have a discussion of what to do with illegal immigrants until the borders are secure. I think everyone here can agree with that.
He's always said that we need to use E-Verify. If that were used across the country, then most illegal immigrants would self-deport. Then the criminals (rapists, murderers, etc) can be dealt with after their prison sentences. The the law-breakers (the fence jumpers) can be put on the list at the back of the line and deported until their number comes up. Let's let him tell us what those "certain conditions" are.
If we are to become a unified force against the Left, then we need to keep a level head and not jump to conclusions before we have all the facts. I can't second-guess what he meant by that statement, so I'd like to hear it from the horse's mouth.
This article expresses the same thinking that many here are suspecting about Lou Dobbs.

Fueling speculation, Dobbs appears to soften on key issue
Posted: November 25th, 2009 09:34 AM ET
Dobbs' latest comments on illegal immigration are drawing attention.
(CNN) - The same week Lou Dobbs suggested he would consider running for the White House in 2012, the former CNN anchorman appears to be softening his stance on his signature issue of illegal immigration.
In an interview with the Spanish-language network Telemundo gaining attention Wednesday, Dobbs told interviewer Maria Celeste he is one of the Latino community's "greatest friends" and appeared willing to embrace a form of amnesty he spent years criticizing.
"What isn't working is a penalty to those who are in this country illegally for whom we can both be building a bridge to the future in which there is legalization and at the same time constructing an environment in which everyone is clear and unequivocal about the need for boarder security and a regulated flow of immigration," Dobbs said.
Watch: Dobbs announces resignation from CNN
"I want to engage in a meaningful and constructive dialogue, and work with those who will work toward real solutions," the former CNN anchorman also said, maintaining his position on immigration hasn't changed despite what appears to be a more moderate stance. "I think we need to honestly come together, those who have differing views…and make some real progress toward an understanding a compromise for those who are in this country illegally."
Dobbs also brushed aside suggestions he is the "No. 1 enemy" of the Latino community, saying that image is a result of propaganda "efforts of the far left."
"Whatever you have thought of me in the past," Dobbs said, "I can tell you right now that I am one of your greatest friends and I mean for us to work together. I hope that will begin with Maria and me and Telemundo and other media organizations and others in this national debate that we should turn into a solution rather than a continuing debate and factional contest."
The comments come as Dobbs has fueled speculation the former anchorman may have his eye on politics as a second act, either in 2012 as a presidential candidate or as a challenger to New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez, the only Hispanic in the Senate.
In an interview with Washington radio station WTOP Monday Dobbs said a 2012 run is "one of the discussions that we're having," though he did not indicate if he'd run as a Republican or third-party candidate.
Meanwhile, Robert Dilenschneider, a spokesman for Dobbs, told the New York Times Tuesday the former anchorman may take the "intermediary step" of challenging Menendez.
"I think Lou is realistically saying, that's a long way off, but if he did run for office there'd have to be an intermediary step, such as the Menendez seat," he said .
Dobbs amicably parted ways with CNN earlier this month. The former anchor's strong views on illegal immigration have made him a lightning rod for criticism from Hispanic groups, and a popular figure in some conservative quarters.

Psalm 139:14
Isn't Sheriff Joe Arpaio, 80+ year old true blue rule of law American. the GREATEST? Prison is not pleasant even for AMERICANS, enjoy those cells and pink tents in Arizona.
Howdy, I'm a hard working man, call it as I see it type.
Lou wimped out, rubber hits the road, this guy is the first to leave the ship, I don't trust him, (don't trust something, get rid of it,) all the while he seemed to be attempting to placate the uneducated, liberal thinking, undoubtedly higher class (tender feeling) Latino market. I would not vote for this man, not enough iron in his blood.
Maria Celeste attacked from the beginning. She was arrogant. Anger is in her facial expressions. Basically she put Lou Dobbs on trial.
Lou Dobbs was apologetic and spineless in my opinion. He should have countered with statistics of what illegal (not undocumented) aliens actually are costing the citizens of America.
Maria says illegal aliens 'civil rights' are being violated in Arizona. If you are in the country illegally, you don't have any civil rights.
At this point, I would not vote for Lou Dobbs for any office as I see him capitulating on illegal immigration.
All these years he fooled us in to thinking he was for this country and the American people. In reality, Lou is just for Lou.
If he tries to run for office I'm sure this video and his other recent comments will surface.
OMG....Lou really said that "certain illegals should be LEGALIZED!"
This can't be....Lou bailed on us. NO ILLEGALS SHOULD RECEIVE AMNESTY they are ALL law breakers. And on top of it all he apologized for not being able to speak Spanish!
Well....for sure Lou is running for office and like all politicians.....he won't call a spade a spade for fear he'll lose a vote. What a shame since he just lost my vote.
I am now glad that I didn't by that Lou Dobbs T-shirt. :(
He is not good at this; he can only work off a prepared script. He needs to learn to think on his feet, and to put one hand on top of the other on the table instead of fluttering them around.
He also needs to be brave and stick to what he says, or he shouldn't say it. It may very well be the case that Mexicans are bring more cases of diseases we don't traditionally have into the US. It's not racist; it's just the way it is. Mexico's health care and sanitation practices suck. It's a poor country. How is this racist? Dobbs should know how to explain things like this.
Why do Mexicans want to move here? Why don't Americans want to move to Mexico? It's because of our culture and form of government. Dobbs should be able to explain American Exceptionalism and show the Mexicans how uncontrolled migration will destroy the US. He should also recommend that Mexico borrow a copy of the US Constitution and try to figure out how to create their own culture of opportunity and ambition.
He's trying to get individuals with influence over public opinion among hispanics to pay attention to him, and not what others have portrayed him as, and I think he did a decent job in this interview, despite the pettiness of the host.
I wish he hadn't used the meaningless phrase of making some illegal immigrants legal "in certain circumstances."
Without defining those circumstances, the phrase has no meaning, other than to quell the burning and blind hatred that so many have for him, because of the way the left has misconstrued his positions in the past.
I know this may be blasphemy here, but I believe it is possible (and probably will be necessary) for some people, whose only crime was to cross the border illegally, and even some of those who aggravated that crime by using falsified documentation, to be able to follow certain steps in order to gain legal residency and eventually citizenship in the U.S.
If those "certain steps" are simplified into simply granting (yet another) round of blanket amnesty, then I am 100% against it. From what I have heard Lou Dobbs say in the past, he also would fight against that type of a solution. If those steps included passing a simple exam in English, demonstrating gainful employment (which would also require that they divulge the alias and SS numbers that they have been using,) and rectifying their identities with documentable identities from their home countries, and a promise to continue the path towards citizenship, or otherwise face deportation, for which their home country would be charged, then I think I could consider "being on board."
I also am married to a "Wise Latina" and I can empathize with the task that Lou faces of getting results in the face of those who are content to simply get angry. But, seeking consensus is far less important than pushing for principles. We must continue to gain allies who believe in voter ID, and (true) border control, otherwise all of this effort is in vain.
However, just as voter ID must strike a balance with (what could become overly intrusive) federal ID laws, a balance will (I mean, we're talking reality here) have to be struck with border control and illegal immigrants who have already achieved their goal of getting into this country.
Don't give up. But, don't give up on Lou, just yet.
Edit: I personally also have been in favor of increasing legal immigration, after voter ID and border control. - I have an idea - Reward all companies that can PROVE they hire only legal immigrants and U.S. citizens with a tax incentive.
sorry for my verbosity ...
I've been active on the immigration issue for about 15 yrs. I align myself with the positions that FAIR & NumbersUSA take:
--Illegal immigration should = 0 (it's now stands at about 1+ Million/yr.)
--Legal immigration should = ~300,000/yr. (it's also about 1+ Million/yr.)
The U.S. has taken in too many poor people over the years. Our immigration policy is like the Octo-Mom's birth control policy, i.e. she had 6 hungry children to feed & went out and had 8 more!!
Exactly what the US govt. did... They had plenty of poor (Amer.) people & they went and imported millions more! Poor people CANnot pay their own way in society. *Roy Beck stated (a few yrs. ago) that if you don't make more than 40 K/yr., you are not (financially) pulling your own weight in the economy. I'm willing to help my fellow Amer.s in that situation (but I'm UNwilling to support UNneeded foreign workers in that category - sorry guys! Go home! we don't need you.)
In addition to this interview on Telemundo, I heard Mr. Dobbs interviewed on WIOD.com (Miami) yesterday (Tues.) & he said he was in favor of increasing LEGAL immigration. I have hear Glenn Beck say the same thing. Wow! Hey Lou, Glenn -- Reality check guys!!! Are you working for the other side now? Legal immigration IS the problem. we shouldn't even have to argue aout ILLEGALs
I often think the other side invented this illegal "issue" ... so WE'd focus & work on that, thus forget about Legal immigration -- Hmm. Just the way they planned it(?)
I don't think we should look at what may appear to be what it's not really. After watching the video and posting my message, I read a news article. In part it read, "His spokesman is playing down the idea. Robert Dilenschneider tells The New York Times Wednesday a run for president is a "long way off." The spokesman says there would have to be an "intermediary step," such as the seat held by Sen. Robert Menendez, a Democrat. Menendez is the Senate's only Hispanic member and a strong advocate for immigrant rights. He's up for re-election in 2012."
And that last paragraph is an important one to consider. First off, NJ is a democratic state; secondly, you have an incumbant who is not only a Democrat but also Hispanic. If Lou even HOPES to have a Chinaman's chance in hell of getting into the government sector, he's going to HAVE to mend some fences.
Let's not be fair-weather fans. And let's try to look at the big picture here.
8O I am shocked, disappointed and at a loss for words.....it is pretty bad when I am at a loss for words!
Everyone,
As disappointed as I was to see Lou not stand up for himself, or Sheriff Joe, before we crucify the guy let's get clarification on what he meant by "certain circumstances." Lou has been inarticulate in the past.
I'm as opposed to and morally offended by our nation's acceptance of illegal immigration as anyone but there is a certain pragmatism that no matter how righteous it is that all illegals be deported, it will never happen. Some illegals have been here 30 years and while that in NO WAY means they deserve to be legal, the political reality is that we won't get everything we want in a reform. Sadly, an illegal immigrant could set off a dirty bomb and our nation wouldn't see the connection and deport all illegals. We already had illegal immigrants commit atrocities on 9/11 and there was little change other than slightly improving security to obtain drivers' licenses.
If there are 15 million illegals in this country, would it be worth comprimising to allow 3 million to stay if we could immediately end chain migration, secure the border and deport the remaining 12 million? For me, that would be a win, though not perfect.
The reality is that illegals are voting already. Illegals are reaping benefits. Illegals are continuing to have anchor babies. Unfortunately, time cannot be turned back 100% and so our job should be to first, stop the bleed, then clean up as much of the mess that has been made by our politicians and understand there will be some collateral damage.
I realize that's not what people want to hear but that is the situation as I see it (though not how I'd like it to be).
The female newscaster mentioned that Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio violated the civil rights of illegal immigrants. Question: since when are ILLEGAL immigrants entitled to civil rights in this country? Civil rights are defined as "the rights of citizens to political and social freedom and equality." The key words is "citizens." I'm disappointed in Lou for not saying that. Clearly he was sidestepping the issue in preparation for his political run and his desire to get the Hispanic support.
