List of Inauguration Balls

Many of the inaugural balls are already sold out! You will need to check to see where your state's specific inaugural ball will be held by searching online or contacting your state Republican Party HQ.

Three official inaugural balls are planned featuring appearances by Trump, including one being dubbed the Big Apple Ball in Washington but with New York-themes dominating under Trump's personal direction, according to TMZ. Details are still developing.

Deploraball, 7 p.m. Jan. 20 A $250 per plate event that takes eponymous pride in Trump nemesis Hillary Clinton's claim that half of his supporters are "deplorables" is no joke, though there's a lot of snark and sarcasm inherent in this event and its promotion. The reception begins at 7 p.m. at the Bolger Center in Bethesda, Md., just outside Washington, with a silent auction to benefit veterans and event host Gays for Trump, followed by dinner and dancing at 8 p.m. This event has publicly illuminated growing fractures among Trump's most fervent supporters among the so-called "alt-right" who helped create the ball via a social media group known as MAGA-3X. Organizers who hoped for an inclusive "big-tent" event have butted heads with event co-founder Tim Treadstone, who has posted homophobic and anti-semitic remarks via @BakedAlaska on Twitter. Milo Yiannopoulos, a Briton who works as an editor for Breitbart News known for acerbic commentary on and off Twitter where he was recently banned, reportedly is scheduled as a guest of honor.

All American Inaugural Ball, Jan. 19: A tribute to everyday American heroes. $150-350

Garden State Inaugural Gala, Jan. 19: Sponsored by the New Jersey State Society, it features a Bruce Springsteen tribute band called the B-Street Band.

2017 Inaugural Heartland Ball, Jan. 19: Highlights the sights, sounds, and cuisine of Illinois. $275

South Carolina Presidential Inaugural Ball, Jan. 19: South Carolina State Society hosts an event at the Smithsonian as part of its mission to link South Carolinians to the nation's capital.

The Vettys Inaugural Ball and Awards, Jan. 20: The Hay-Adams, 800 16th St NW, Washington, DC. The event is hosted by the Coalition to Salute American Heroes, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Disabled American Veterans with Paralyzed Veterans of America as a non-partisan celebration. $350-$1,250

Inauguration Day at the Newseum, Jan. 20: An all-inclusive "Presidential Inauguration Celebration Experience" from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Newseum, located on the inaugural parade route on historic Pennsylvania Avenue. $350-$500

Native Nations Inaugural Ball, Jan. 20: This event launches a campaign to build the National Native American Veterans Memorial.

Dardanella: The Great Gatsby Presidential Inaugural Ball, Jan. 20: National Portrait Gallery & Smithsonian American Art Museum hosts "a non-political political event!" offering a step back in history with an orchestra, vintage paper moon photo sets and more. $150-$450

Salute to Heroes/Veterans Inaugural Ball, Jan. 20: American Legion and Veterans Inaugural Committee host a tribute to America's Medal of Honor recipients and Trump. Drew Carey emcees with performances by Rascal Flatts' vocalist Gary LeVox, and songwriters Neil Thrasher and Wendell Mobley. $300

Washingtonian Inaugural Ball, Jan. 20: The Washingtonian hosts a nonpartisan dinner and ball. $275-$350

• The Bytes & Books Inaugural Ball – Hosted by the National Coalition for Technology in Education and Training, this ball is described as a gathering of individuals from technological and educational spheres.
• The Creative Coalition Inaugural Ball – An inaugural ball sponsored by The Creative Coalition, a non-profit charity.
• George Washington University Inaugural Ball – This ball has been held since 1992, and it will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
• Inaugural Deploraball– A gathering of individuals who during the election “advanced liberty across the country and the world via blogs, social media, guerrilla art, music, video, and good old-fashioned hard work.” This ball will consist largely of alt-right personalities, including Milo Yiannopoulos.
• Peace Ball – Taking place at the National Museum of African American History, guests will include Alice Walker, Van Jones, Chef Jose Andrews, Danny Glover, and Angela Davis.
• Vettys Presidential Inaugural Ball – A ball to celebrate the inauguration and to honor the armed forces, put on by the Academy of United States Veterans, Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, Military Order of the Purple Heard, Disabled American Veterans, and Paralyzed Veterans of America.
• Washingtonian Inaugural Ball – This ball will be held at the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian American Art Museum, and it is described as “an evening of drinking, dining, and dancing as we celebrate the 58th Presidential Inauguration.”

Transportation at the Inauguration

Inaugural events attendees are encouraged to use public transportation, as many streets in and around the Capitol Grounds and the National Mall area will be closed to private automobiles for much of the day. Metro plans to run special rail service on Inauguration Day to support large crowds traveling to and from the National Mall and other events in the region.
Metrorail

• Metrorail will open at 4 a.m. and close at midnight. Peak fares will be in effect from 4 a.m. until 9 p.m. After 9 p.m., off-peak fares will be in effect.
• Five of Metro's 91 stations -- Archives, Mt Vernon Square, Federal Triangle, Smithsonian and Pentagon - will be closed due to enhanced security measures.
• For 17 consecutive hours -- from opening until 9 p.m. -- trains will run frequently on all lines, including "Rush Plus" service on the Yellow Line between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt.
• Riders planning to use Metro are encouraged to purchase their SmarTrip card in advance to avoid long lines on Inauguration Day. (Each rider age 5 or older needs his/her own SmarTrip card to enter and exit the system.) Before January 13, visit wmata.com/inauguration to purchase a special $10 one-day pass good for unlimited Metrorail and Metrobus trips on Inauguration Day.
• Metro recommends that riders plan their trip to the National Mall without transferring between lines. There is a station near the National Mall on each Metro line.

Metrobus

• Metrobus will operate "Saturday Supplemental" service (Saturday schedule with additional trips on selected routes). Check wmata.com for details.
• Approximately 50 routes will operate with detours due to Inauguration events and road closures. Expect delays and detours. Please allow additional time.
• Routes that normally cross the National Mall will turn around at special locations outside the secure area; use Metrorail instead. Visit wmata.com/inauguration for information.
• Temporary bus stops will be marked around the security perimeter of the event where bus routes will end.

MetroAccess

• MetroAccess paratransit service for customers with disabilities will operate identical hours to rail and bus schedules.
• MetroAccess customers are encouraged to plan extra time to travel due to increased traffic throughout the service area. Due to road closures, MetroAccess vehicles will only be able to drop off customers several blocks from the National Mall and parade route.
• MetroAccess vehicles will not be permitted access to streets that are closed. All MetroAccess users should be prepared for detours and extended travel times.

Parking

• Metro has approximately 60,000 parking spaces in 29 lots and 22 garages throughout the Washington region for private motorists to park on Inauguration Day. Many of these facilities are located near major highways, such as I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway).
• Tour buses are not permitted to park at Metro stations or use Metro bus facilities or roadways. Follow tour bus instructions on dc.gov.
• Regular weekday parking rates will be charged as you exit the garage and may be paid by credit card.
• Parking facilities at Metro stations may reach capacity early on Inauguration Day. Have a backup plan in the event that your selected parking facility is full.
