LOU DOBBS POLL ON KYL CORNYN IMMIGRATION BILL

    http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/

Please vote!! This bill gives existing illegal employers a "break" for past transgressions. This bill lets illegal aliens "caught" breaking the law and who are be deported to "reapply" after 10 years.

I am opposed to this bill. We do not need a new law. We have plenty of laws that already fine employers and includes prison time. We already have a deportation law. We already have everything we need to control immigration into the United States. We already have an immigration policy that allows a certain amount of immigration to fill shortages in certain seasonal industries, farm labor, and so forth.

We do not need Immigration Reform. We just need ENFORCEMENT OF OUR EXISTING LAWS.

    I voted NO.

    I "noted" your voted.

This at least shows how many Americans want something done, although I do not believe we'll be happy with this legislation.

It gives amnesty to existing illegal employers. Next time they get caught after this bill passes, THEN the federal government has the right to assess big fines. The reality is the federal government already has the right to assess huge fines and put them in jail and that hasn't stopped them. A new law isn't going to stop them. Only prosecutions will stop them. We already have laws to prosecute. If the US Government refuses to prosecute under existing laws, then what makes anyone think they'll prosecute "next time". Silly and foolish. A "mirage".

It says no one can get a guest worker pass until the US Government veritifes with "virtual certainty" that the woker is needed. The US Government already believes with absolute certainty we need every illegal alien that enters the United States. It doesn't matter what law is passed, the US Government is not going to enforce the law, whatever it is, if the purpose of that law is to prohibit immigration into the United States. Silly and foolish. A "mirage".

Unless there is a law that walks straight to jail without passing go and collecting their $200 every single federal worker violating US Immigration Law...it doesn't matter what law you pass, it 'aint gonna happen and the flow will continue.

The US Congress needs to demand enforcement of existing US Immigration Law and plug up the loophole on the "catch and release" program and start holding Congressional investigations on why these laws haven't been enforced to protect the American People and the national security of the United States.

The old "broken system" is a pack of lies. The only thing broken is American Law by those hired and trusted to enforce and uphold that law.

Be cautious on this one. It's a sneak attack....that will worsen the situation rather than improve it. The net result is: everyone already here will stay illegally and the new system will be used to bring millions more in legally.

How does that solve any problem? It doesn't solve anything. Only worsens the problem.

I have to do more research into this before I cast a formal opinion, but on the outset this bill sucks.

I think of Reagan's amnesty in 1986. It was principally along the same lines: we'll give you a break this time, but after this you're cut off!!!

Did it work? Okay, why are we at this site right now?

I feel the same way about this bill and about the guest worker program our President fought so hard for. And about McCain/Kennedy's Amnesty debacle that will legitimize the illegals currently here if they pay a fine and pass a physical. Do you really believe that if they don't pass the physical or pay the fine they'll be deported?

In order for amnesty to work, a guest worker plan to be implemented, and for breaks to be given to the employers we need three things: secured/militarized borders, a ruthlessly efficient deportation system, and elected officials who actually have some cajones.

In other words, it ain't gonna happen.

Right on, "rebel".. we need to get together and form a unified position with all the immigration groups. ENFORCEMENT FIRST....REFORM LATER IF STILL NECESSARY.

Until this federal government is brought to its knees and made to realize that it CAN NOT usurp the Will of the American People by abandoning the rule of law on something as important as immigration law, then there should be no new laws other than those needed to close up a loop-hole here and there.

AND, did this bill, the Cornyn-Kyl bill adress the "catch and release" loophole? I don't think so, as deportation is not the mission of this bill. This bill has a secret mission to mislead the American People into believing it's doing something when it isn't doing a damn thing except letting more in legally.

This bill lets illegal aliens "caught" breaking the law and who are be deported to "reapply" after 10 years.

this is amazing --- citizens are subjected to "three strikes and you're out" and oh by the way, we'll "taint" your property and take your house, your car, your boat, your bank account and your first born -- all in violation of the " No bills of attainder"

if the American people relinquish their citizenship, will they become immune to the laws of the United States

I'm positive that a lot of these "unscientific" polls are tainted to begin with. People who watch Lou Dobbs are SO DESPERATE to see SOMETHING, ANYTHING, done about illegal immigration that, when they see a poll that SEEMS to actually be doing something, they voted FOR it.

Most people really don't realize that there ARE already sufficient laws in place to control the problem but they just aren't being enforced. The Kyl/Cornyn bill sounds a lot better than the McCain/Kennedy bill but the general public just doesn't realize all of the facts of this issue.

I agree that, if someone is caught in this country ILLEGALLY, they should NEVER come back. PERIOD. I don't think this bill would pass without considerable changes and maybe just bringing the issue to the fore will also give the few representatives that we have who oppose this illegal immigration issue the forum to stress that we already have laws that are just not being enforced. Maybe it will open some eyes among the American people that this is really a SERIOUS problem that DOES NEED ADDRESSING.

Right Bootsie! And I don't blame anyone who voted for the bill because I'm sure that is the reason they voted for it int he poll. It was a quandry to be asked to vote for something that you hadn't had a chance to read yet. I could not find a copy of the legislaton on the web and it doesn't have a bill number yet in the US Senate.

I'm looking forward to seeing a copy of the bill and picking it apart.

If you or anyone else sees it or can find it before I do, please please please post it.
