Congressman Allen West is saying he “has heard” that some 80 Democratic members of the House of Representatives are Communist Party members.

The Palm Beach Post reported that West made the McCarthy-esque remarks at a town hall meeting in Jensen Beach on Tuesday night.

In a video clip of the event posted Wednesday, West was responding to a question from a constituent asking “What percentage of the American legislature do you think are card-carrying Marxists?”

“That’s a fair question. I believe there’s about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party,” West said.

West added: “It’s called the Congressional Progressive Caucus.”

Post columnist Frank Cerabino commented: “West is a bit of an authority when it comes to masquerading. He still wears his Army medals on his civilian clothes nine years after being drummed out of the service.”

West is the first-term, tea party-backed celebrity congressman whom Sarah Palin and Herman Cain have promoted in recent days for the GOP vice presidential nomination.

One Florida Democratic House member, Ted Deutch, made light of West’s accusation in an interview with Cerabino. “It makes you wonder how many Democrats there really are in Congress,” said Deutch, D-Boca Raton. “Because it wasn’t that long ago when West was comparing us to the Nazis. And now we’re Communists.”

For the record, the Communist Party USA took offense. “I just think it’s an absurd way to cast a shadow over his colleagues. It’s kind of a sad ploy,” said Libero Della Piana, a vice-chairman of the national Communist Party, according to Politico.“It’s just guilt by association taken to an extreme,” he said. He also said there are no members of Congress who are members of the Communist Party – not even avowed socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, an Independent, from Vermont.

“I think it’s just absurd,” Della Piana told Politico.

Other than Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who openly ran as a socialist, the rest of this lot ran as “moderate democrats.” I think it’s time we put the myth of the “moderate” democrat to bed. They are all Marxists, or Marxist leaning. They all are big government totalitarians hell-bent on destroying America, the Constitution, and our way of life. One needs no other proof than the way Congress has acted since the Marxist-democrats took control four years ago, and the tyranny that has been championed since Obama was sworn in.

Socialism, communism, Marxism, whatever you want to call it, is a vile, dangerous ideology. The people that practice this religion of hate, and that’s what it is, a religion, are evil. Marxism demands a strict centralized command and control government, where the people surrender all of their rights to the almighty government. Government replaces God as savior of man. This is why you see these power hungry demons work relentlessly to control every aspect of your lives. What you eat, what you drink, and so on. It’s a very diseased ideology.

JournoList, was not just a bunch of “liberal‘ journos with too much time on there hands.
It was a network of high level opinion makers, united by a “progressive” vision for America. They believed that their superior judgement and insight, obligated them to present Americans with a view of reality, that they would be too stupid and reactionary to grasp unaided.
At least a few, perhaps many, were committed Marxists who saw journalism, not as a profession, but as a revolutionary tool.
This disgraceful episode should dispel forever the “progressive” lie, that the American MainStreamMedia and its “liberal” core, can be trusted to uphold the objective standards of their profession.

As stated above, this is more than just a bunch of sloppy journalists and overpaid “professors” with time on their hands. This is a group that conspired to bury damning information about Barack Obama, and conspired to make up lies about Sarah Palin, in order to influence the 2008 presidential election. And … IT WORKED!
That should send chills down your spine.
These are the same sorts that conspire to push all of the radical leftist agenda. They are dangerous revolutionaries who should not be allowed to pose as journalists or teachers.
These radicals have destroyed the integrity of their “profession” and destroyed the trust of the American people. They have perverted their First Amendment rights completely. They have spit on both the Constitution and the American people. They should all be run out of the business.
We can never trust the so-called “mainstream media” again.

Rep. West doubles down on Communist 'ideology' of progressive caucus

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) on Thursday maintained that the "the strategy, the tactics, the ideology" of progressive caucus members in Congress are the same as that of the Communist Party.

"I'm just talking about the fact of the ideologies, the principles you believe in," he said on CNN, urging others to "stand upon truth" and learn to identify the ideological motivations of members of Congress. "I'm calling it this: communist, progressive, Marxist, socialist, statist."

Last week, West told a crowd of supporters in his home state that he believes “there’s about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party.” He went on to explain he was talking about the Congressional Progressive Caucus. CPC co-chairmen Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) compared West's remarks to those of former Sen. Joe McCarthy, who "divided Americans with name-calling and modern-day witch hunts that don’t advance policies to benefit people’s lives.” McCarthy was censured by the Senate for the tactics he used in his attempt to root out Soviet spies and sympathizers during the Cold War.

West has not backed off the comment. “I’m not going to back down. I’m not going to be afraid about the fact that I called a spade a spade," he said Tuesday.

On CNN, West referred host Soledad O'Brien to the members of the CPC when she asked him to "name names" of the communists in Congress. "You've got the names," he said.

West, a freshman member popular with the grassroots Tea Party movement, is well known for making controversial statements and standing by them.

"I've had to give quite a few people a little tutorial about the political spectrum of ideologies," West said on CNN. "At the turn of the century here in the United States of America, American communists renamed themselves progressives but the strategy, the tactics, the ideology remains the same. When you're a member of a caucus that wanted to have a constitutional amendment to redistribute wealth in the United States of America, I don't think that's in keeping with the principles and values of this country."
