Urge support for Photo Identification Security Act


Americans were outraged when they learned that Bank of America was not only providing credit cards to illegal immigrants, but also actively soliciting their business. Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has introduced the Photo Identification Security Act to require banks to use secure forms of identification for identifying those who open accounts, including credit card accounts.

HR 1314 would stipulate that American financial institutions must use secure identification such as a photo identification card issued by the federal government or a state government, or a passport issued by the United States or a foreign government.

Bank of America and other banks could no longer accept the matricula consular cards, as they currently do.

While any accommodation of illegal immigration is inappropriate, the issue is even larger. Foreigners who are in the country illegally could use these accounts to finance terrorism or other criminal activity.
