Alert! Tell President Bush to build the border fence!


Even though only a tiny portion of the authorized border fence has been built, President Bush is withdrawing half the National Guard troops sent there last year to construct the barrier. Instead, the Border Patrol is asking for volunteers among its agents to help build the fence on the Mexican border.

Last year Bush signed the Secure Fence Act that committed the U.S. to build nearly 700 miles of double-tiered fencing along some of the most porous parts of the U.S.-Mexico border. The President set a goal of completing 70 miles by September 30, but by June, only 13 miles of new border fencing had been built.

Now the Border Patrol is asking agents with welding and construction experience to work on fence construction. This is outrageous.
