Hun, I don't think you have your facts right. Unless you mother was born in the 1800s before certain supreme court rulings or before the 14th amendment was ratified.

The 14th amendment says anyone born here is automatically a citizen. Supreme court reaffirmed this interpretation either in the 1800s or the 1900s not too long after it was ratified. Your mother was a citizen from the moment she was born, I guess she just didn't know it.
