Thanks for doing this review. I hope your next segment will really dig in on the problems with the film from the perspective of American patriots.

I'm working on it right now. There are so many contradictions and self-refuting parts of the plot that it's hard to pin the director down in one place.

This is the worst part of the film, IMO:

[b]Perhaps the most depressingly predictable part of the film is Rivera’s speech to a group of illegal day laborers, which is punctuated by the hackneyed cliche “we didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us.â€

i saw the movie, my husband and I both took it as a spoof at both sides of the illegal problem.

I don't know of any US citizen who has been allowed to shoot to kill pregnant mexican women illegally crossing the border.

Yeah, it's those type of scenes that make me think he wasn't approaching this in a serious manner. But it did manage to drum up a lot of publicity for his film, so as a marketer, he definitely succeeded.

For what it's worth, I know someone who's a big open borders enthusiast, and even he didn't take the film that seriously. I still think there should have been more focus on all of the problems caused by illegal aliens, which was evident if you watched the movie with a critical eye.
