44,000 take part in Walk for Hunger in Mass.
May 3, 2009
BOSTON—Organizers of Project Bread's Walk for Hunger say this year's event attracted a record 44,000 people and raised nearly $4 million for food pantries across Massachusetts.
Participants flooded Boston-area streets Sunday as they walked the 20-mile route from Boston Common to Newton and back. The route ran from Beacon Street to Brookline, Newton, Watertown and Cambridge before returning to the Common.
Project Bread says fundraising will continue through May with a goal of $4.1 million. About $3.8 million was collected Sunday.
Last year's Walk for Hunger raised more than $4 million.
Project Bread gives donations to more than 400 emergency food programs in 128 communities statewide.I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
