Obama is no "Desi"

Obama is such a condescending arrogant self-serving pickled-mouth troglodyte! We have a large South Eastern Asian population in my community and I have the greatest respect for them as a group….I see that they are hard workers and have respect and love for America. When I was teaching college my best students were from all parts of Asia, they always went the extra mile and then some. High Achievers! My point is that while I respect this group of people but I would not call myself a “Desiâ€

South East Asians are from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. South Asians (Desis) are from India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. I say Obama is part elite Desi (like the ones he was talking to) because he grew up in Indonesia and had everything handed to him like these elite Desi's do.

You also make some good points that he has little in common with the average "Desi", or for that matter the average American no matter what their color.

He is an opportunist that used our system (Affirmative Action) to go to Harvard….and his getting into Harvard may have kept an industrious Asian person from attending the college, since Affirmative Action gives more points ( for nothing) to blacks.

You're buying into a myth, FAIR did a report a few years ago that showed that the whole "model minority" is a myth. Asians are more likely to be n poverty and on welfare than white Americans. They are also more likely to be on public assistance.

I have a large south eastern Asian population in my area as well. They all are in public housing, on welfare, and have 10 kids per family. Where do you live?
