Government will not tell about 1,500 weapons to Mexico

Patriotic American,

This week, investigators have landed in Arizona to begin their probe of the so-called "Gunwalker" Mexican weapons ATF scandal. Yes, House and Senate investigators have descended upon Arizona for their probe into the so-called "Gunwalker" scandal.

According to CBS News, "They are presently gathering interviews from witnesses, including ATF "insiders" and area gun shop owners. The congressional investigators are frustrated by what they view as across-the-board stonewalling by government agencies which have refused to provide information in the investigation. Government officials have said they will not provide information while their own investigations are ongoing."

THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THEMSELVES---says one Capitol source.

They are claiming the open investigations preclude them from giving Congress information it needs for independent oversight. This is unbelievably improper!

ATF's former lead agent in Mexico, Attaché Darren Gil, told CBS News in an exclusive interview that he believes senior Justice department official Larry Breuer and several of his deputies who visited Mexico amid the controversy last summer knew all about the alleged gunwalking, as did ATF's Acting director Kenneth Melson. None of those officials would speak to CBS News; Federal agencies have refused Congressional requests to turn over documents related to the official's Mexico trips.

In another development, the Assistant Special Agent in charge of ATF's Phoenix Division, George Gillett, continues to provide information to U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) who is leading the senatorial investigation. Of the top managers possibly implicated in the gunwalking strategy, Gillett is the only one who has hired an attorney and is voluntarily providing information to Grassley's office.

According to interviews and documents, a number of ATF agents objected to what they saw as an unprecedented and dangerous approach to gathering intelligence. Objections also came from ATF supervisors and gun shop owners enlisted by the ATF to make the sales. Those who expressed concerns say they were punished, ostracized and even threatened with their jobs by managers.

ATF operations allegedly have helped to supply Mexican drug cartels with weapons, as part of a "controlled trafficking of arms" to Mexican authorities.

The Washington Post reports: "A controversy over tactics used to break up an extensive Mexican gunrunning ring has prompted federal officials to reevaluate an aggressive law enforcement strategy to stop firearms trafficking. The new scrutiny comes after two separate shootings in the past three months in which federal agents were killed and guns recovered by investigators were later traced back to people already under investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is trying to determine whether the gun used in the attack that killed Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata---purchased at a Texas gun store in October---was smuggled into Mexico by buyers who were under investigation by ATF agents. He has asked the ATF why the purchasers of the gun used in the attack on Zapata were not arrested in November, a month after they bought the weapons. Now Mexico also wants a probe into the ATF and guns.

These allegations put at risk the laws that protect every gun-owner in the United States. That's why CCRKBA is on top of this situation!

This ATF operation allegedly helped supply Mexican drug cartels with weapons; and the governments of both countries want the truth!

There appeared to be a potential contradiction between statements of U.S. officials saying that Mexico was aware of the operation and Mexico officials who insist they were not. However, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico says there is no real contradiction because Mexico was aware of the general operation, nicknamed "Fast and Furious"; but not specifically aware of any alleged "walking" of weapons across the border.

But it begs the question: Can we really trust the judgments by Mr. Andrew Traver who was nominated by President Obama?

Here is the real truth about Mr. Traver.

He is in favor of banning ALL gun shows

He is opposed to civilian ownership of semi-automatic rifles and shotguns

He is opposed to private firearm sales

He is wanting the Center for Disease Control to have oversight of the firearms industry

This is a DIRECT AFFRONT to those of us who own guns and use them properly. It is against those of us who truly claim the Second Amendment as fast! In short, he was distinctive ANTI-GUN credentials!

Barack Obama and Mr. Traver are NOT friends of the people who whole-heartedly believe in the Second Amendment rights in the U.S. Constitution. Yes, that's you and me!

Mr. Traver is an ENEMY of the people, like you and me, who cherish our Second Amendment right to carry guns!

There are approximately 80,000,000 gun owners in the United States who must come against this tyrannical ATF Chief who is against guns. He is an anti-gun zealot with a distinctive anti-gun bias. And it shows.

With your assistance in communicating via fax to U.S. Congressmen, we will find out whether or not this is an ATF Cover-Up. Our media efforts will also make a very large difference.

U.S. Senator Grassley echoes our thoughts: "Asking cooperating gun dealers to arm cartels and bandits without control of the weapons or knowledge of their whereabouts is an extremely risky strategy."

I look forward to hearing from you shortly, so we can assist in getting to the bottom of this; and to make sure that our Second Amendment rights belong to US!

Respectfully,

Alan M. Gottlieb
