The Problem with Elitists in Government

I wonder if our forefathers intended for the Federal Government to become so elitist and out of touch with the American people?

When the people who are supposed to be representing us, protecting us, and guarding our country, are so out of touch with the day-to-day lives of American people, how can we expect them to relate to our issues?

Servants, private jets, limousines, private schools for their children, private medical care, bodyguards, designer clothes, gourmet food, etc...makes it all but impossible for our government to properly represent the average American.

I'd like to see Bush and all the others in our Federal Government spend just ONE week living in a neighborhood invaded by illegals. Make them go to the grocery store where they're surrounded by illegals. Make them go to Burger King and try to order a simple lunch. Make them send their children to schools that are 2/3 non-English speaking Mexicans. Make them sit in an emergency room for 6 hours, behind the illegals, waiting for care.

They live so outside the reality of the average American, that they can't approach anything realistically. We need more "average Joes" in government. We need to limit the "perks" that change their lives so much that it puts them out of touch with the reality of American life. We need to stop treating our government like ROYALTY....because I KNOW our forefathers never intended for that.
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

    Americangirl,
I agree. The hypocrisy of silver spoon elitists such as Bush and Kennedy who push open borders & amnesty but don't have to deal with the first hand effects of illegal immigration is just unbelievable. And on top of this, they have the nerve to call wage earning middle class citizens "insensitive" or worse for opposing more amnesties!

After all, I doubt there are illegals spraying graffiti and roaming around near the Kennedy Compund in Hyannisport or at the Bush Compound in Maine. And I would venture to say there aren't a lot of non-English speaking illegals sitting in classrooms at Andover, Georgetown Prep, Yale, etc.

Yes, these people have never had been in touch with reality and others who once knew it, have lost it.

The fact is, however, I don't think the illegal movement, the outsourcing, trade deals, etc., have much to do with elitism. If you mean elitism as just the rich not knowing what they are doing.

They know what they are doing and they know what effect it is having on the country, the world and the people. They just don't care. That is where the elitism comes in. They know they will not be touched by any of the chaos that will ensue.

    I agree 100% americangirl!

The founding of our country was that every man was created equal! Now having all these flashy things and royalty treatment is putting them over us!
That is not what the founding fathers would have wanted! Sure the President of the United States ain't making millions a year, but most come from very wealthy backgrounds and us the office of the presidency to further there personal agenda in there business life!
Our country's founders cherished liberty, not democracy.

That's why I like the candidates with a lot less cash in their coffers. Take Hunter for example ... he has no great personal wealth. These are the kind of guys we need in office who CAN relate.

Loved it as I turned into the shopping strip I go to for groceries, today, pharmacy, dry cleaning, etc. -- illegals literally just lying around on the ground, propped up against walls, like bums. It's a total blight on an otherwise average middle class community.

And you always see signs that say No Loitering .. isn't this loitering? Why don't our police chase them off?
