Congressman Luis Gutierrez Joins with 1,100 Faith Leaders to Stand Up in Solidarity for Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Washington, DC — On Thursday, September 9th the Conservatives for Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CfCIR) will hold a national conference call on immigration reform, live from the annual Christian Community Development Association Conference in Chicago, IL.. This is the 10th national conference call from CfCIR’s Securing American Values Campaign. These conservative leaders are calling for at least 1,100 pastors, priests and people of faith to join them by phone on Thursday, September 9th to symbolically represent the 1,100 deportations taking place in the United States every day. Evangelical, political, and civil rights leaders will be discussing the moral crisis in communities across the country as a result of our broken immigration system. Congressman Luis Gutierrez will discuss his participation in the Families United/Familias Unidas tour, in which he travelled to at least 30 churches in cities across America, and heard from tens of thousands of families that fear deportation, or can’t get documentation to bring a close family member or a child here legally.
