Thread: 'Trump Wall' triggers pro-Hillary students at Penn State (update)

A A pro-Trump rally at Penn State University went south when counter-protesters harassed their Trump-supporting classmates and vandalized their campaign signs.

The school’s “Bull Moose Party” student group held a pro-Trump demonstration on campus Tuesday, during which members built a wall around a flagpole to express their support for the candidate, but several counter-protesters showed up to disrupt the event, calling Trump “a rapist” and mocking their peers for supporting his presidential bid.

“We built a wall around the American flag to show our support for Donald Trump,” Bull Moose Party President Chris Baker told Campus Reform. “Our club wanted this to symbolize our goal to protect our land, our nation, and our flag.”

A video of the event shows protesters tearing down pro-Trump campaign signs and tearing them to pieces while Trump supporters explained that they were simply trying to peacefully promote their candidate.



One self-described gay Trump supporter was holding a pride flag at the demonstration, which sparked the temper of one protesters, who asked “what does [Trump] do for gay people?”

When pressed on the issue and asked that same question of her own preferred candidate, though, she could only assert that “[Hillary] at least pretends to do stuff for gay people.”

Baker told Campus Reform that the Students for Hillary club actually helped organize the counter-protest, even coming equipped with a megaphone with which they attempted to drown out the Bull Moose members.

The antagonism was not entirely unexpected, however, as Baker noted that the “Bull Moose Party” was previously named Students for Trump, but had to change its title because his school prohibited him from using Trump’s name.

He also claimed that school officials attempted to shut down Tuesday’s event, saying “they told us we were not allowed to demonstrate.”

“They told us we could not [erect a] building on campus,” Baker recounted, but asserted “our protest was peaceful, and we were discussing issues with people and wanted people to write whatever they wanted on the wall.”

He explained that the administration allowed the event to continue after he and his peers refused to take the wall down, telling school officials that “if you want to [tear it down] you will have to do it.”

WJAC TV reports that Penn State released a statement in response to the incident, saying administrators had warned both groups against violating school policies regarding expressive activity, but took no further action after each agreed to comply going forward.

“The university respects students' right to free speech and will not interfere when ideas are expressed in a peaceful manner,” the statement asserts, but adds that “Our policies do prevent people from building structures on University property or using any amplified audio devices like megaphones. After being alerted, both groups agreed to abide by University policies as they continued their demonstration.”

Two Penn State students are raising money to pay for fines they were slapped with after destroying pro-Trump signs at a rally that took place on campus.

The students are looking to raise twice the amount of their fine so that the second half can be donated directly to Planned Parenthood.

The vandals were identified as Hanna DeMarte and Trystyn Murphy, who have both launched an online fundraising page so that supporters of their actions can help them pay off the fines they received from the university for their actions. Both DeMarte and Murphy claimed that they “both received notice in the mail that we’re being fined $362 each for criminal mischief,” and that “failure to respond to this charge in a timely manner will result in our arrest.”

In a post that originally appeared on Penn State’s pro-Trump club’s Facebook page, DeMarte admits that he appears in the video that circulated online of protesters taking Trump posters from students and ripping them up.

“Another student and I ripped up a couple of the Trump signs that bordered their wall,” DeMarte confesses, complaining that “a video of this, originally posted by the Trump club’s Facebook page, circulated on social media and was picked up by some alt-right news networks.”

Penn State student Dimitri A. Loutsik reported the two counter-protesters to the police, claiming that the two protesters were solely responsible for the destruction of the posters: “We had the very successful Trump Wall event, which I attended and supplied the Trump signs for,” Loutsik claimed. “I unfortunately had a class that day where attendance is mandatory and close to 25 percent of my grade, so while I was in class the majority of my signs got ripped up by two of the counter-demonstrators.”

“Fortunately we got it on video, so I and some eye-witnesses went to the university police and reported it,” Loutsik explained. “Then fast forward a couple of weeks, and I get my friend texting me telling me that the two people I reported got fined, and are asking people to donate money to Planned Parenthood in my name.”

Loutsik and his peers are confused as to why the counter-protesters have sought to raise money for planned parenthood in response to their punishment for destroying the pro-Trump posters. Loutsik says that because he has never expressed a public opinion, it is likely that the counterprotesters are seeking to repudiate the conservative students whose decision to report them led to the lofty $724 fine.

President Nieto needs to get on Spanish television...telling HIS citizens to pack up and go back to Mexico. He has plenty of land for them...put them in a Safe Zone on HIS soil. He can give them tents and shelter, set up schools, put them to work building Mexico. The Mexican Churches and Mexican billionaires can work together in this effort.

Anybody in the USA going shopping? Going to the liquor store? Check every label, if is says "Made in Mexico"...put it back on the shelf...do not buy it.

The USA is a Nation of Laws...respect OUR Laws, our people and our Country. Mexico is NOT a good neighbor.

Every American needs to stand together...get the word out...do NOT use your money to buy products or travel in Mexico.

If our own government and Mexico refuse to secure our borders and stop this invasion...we MUST do it with our wallets!
