Bush Vows To Help Sessions' Campaign

Tony Snow on Hardball with Chris Matthews said that Bush shook Sessions hand and said, "Although we may disagree on the immigration issue, I still intend to come to Mobile to help you raise money for your campaign."

Is this a case of arm twisting at work? Apparently, it didn't work. Sessions is just as determined as ever to support the American people.

I would think thats more of a threat than a vow of assistance. If I was a republican running for re-election I darn sure wouldn't want Bush standing beside me anywhere in public!

I don't think Bush's crap works on Sessions. He's too nice of a guy.

I sure hope Sessions said, no thanks Mr. President, I want to get re-elected. I think New Low Bush was intimidating him with this threat. My approval ratings will drag you down.

I think Sessions is one of the few who can't be intimidated. We all lavished him with praise after the Cloture vote. I think he's still basking in that warm and fuzzy feeling and he's not about to trade that off for any campaign money.

    Sessions for President!!!!!

This fund raiser apparently has been on the calendar for a while. I wondered if Sessions might be trying to find a way out of it.

    Bushes to headline political fundraiser
    Friday, June 08, 2007
President Bush and first lady Laura Bush will be in Mobile on June 21 to headline a joint fundraiser for Sen. Jeff Sessions and the National Republican Senatorial Committee at the Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center.

Invitations were mailed Wednesday for the $1,000-a-person afternoon reception that will draw at least 700 people, according to the Sessions' campaign.

Sessions, R-Ala., is running for a third term and the NRSC is the political committee that helps elect Republicans to the Senate.
