Way to defeat the New England Patriots? Electing Donald Trump

Donald Trump, left, stops to talk to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady prior to the start of the game at Gillette Stadium, Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, in Foxborough, Mass., where the Patriots will play the Tennessee Titans in a ..

By Kelly Riddell - The Washington Times - Friday, February 3, 2017

I never thought the way to defeat the New England Patriots was to elect Donald Trump to the presidency.

    And yet, here we are.

The Boston Globe reported this week that many Patriots fans are wavering in their support of the blockbuster franchise because the owner, coach and star quarterback have all expressed a fondness for Mr. Trump.

“With sports, there definitely are a lot of things that you overlook in order to just enjoy the entertainment of it,” Chuck Daly, a 26-year-old South Shore native, told the Globe. “I was a Pats fan my whole life. I want to watch and love them and root for them. I just feel like I can’t.”

“Now, at a time when Daly should be exulting in yet another banner season — Sunday’s Super Bowl LI matchup with the Atlanta Falcons will be the team’s seventh title-game appearance in 16 years — he is among a contingent of fans who admit to feeling somewhat … conflicted,” the Globe reported.

    The reason?

Quarterback Tom Brady, coach Bill Belichick and owner Robert Kraft have all expressed support for Mr. Trump, despite his divisive rhetoric.

    Wow.

The Washington Post declared: “Rooting for Tom Brady used to be easy. Until Donald Trump came along.”
Mr. Brady’s crime? Deciding not to take position on Mr. Trump, despite constant badgering from the sports press.

“If people want to take sides, you know, they can obviously do that,” Mr. Brady said this week, regarding Mr. Trump. “It’s everyone’s right. They have a right to do that. And I have a right to stay out of it, too.”

Not good enough, according to Luke O’Neil at The Post.

“When it comes to Trump, no one can be apolitical,” Mr. O’Neil wrote. “Brady’s nonchalant neutrality is itself a political statement, one that says he’s either too rich to worry about how Trump’s whirlwind of chaos will affect his life, or worse, too indifferent about the rapidly diminishing prospects of those who are not.”

Harsh. But Mr. O’Neil’s opinion has been echoed several times this week.

USA Today sportswriter Nancy Armour said Mr. Brady “had some explaining to do” regarding his thoughts on Mr. Trump, basically arguing that because Colin Kaepernick decided to protest the national anthem, and was subject to national criticism, Mr. Brady should be too — for his relationship with Mr. Trump.

    This is backwards.

The expectations for our NFL athletes should be to throw touchdown passes and to run 40 yard dashes under 5 seconds— not to advocate for political positions.

Actors, athletes and comedians should stick to what they’re good at — entertainment. Politics shouldn’t have to be inserted in every aspect of our lives.

But, in today’s age, it seems to be.

So, have at it, Pats fans.

If you’re so fed up and would like to trade Mr. Brady to the Washington Redskins, we’ll take him. We’re used to being politically incorrect.

The press just keeps pushing the hate. This is still a free country last I knew and we all have our own opinions or choose not to get involved. Whys is it so important everyone is either for Trump or against Trump why the nagging and insisting you have to be on one side or the other? This is not the world I grew up in. We argued we got over it and were still friends, This hate is being forced down everyone's throats by the main stream media and hollywood, they will not let it lie. It has become so obvious I don't even watch T.V. anymore it is getting old fast. Get over it and move on!

I still watch the news but with the sound off most of the time, and only turn it on if there's a "breaking news". It was so funny tonight, "breaking news" on CNN about Trump's trust for his business, "investigated and discovered by the New York Times". LOL!! It's a revocable living trust with his 2 sons as the Trustees. Don Lemon and the NYT reporter who was on the phone and hard to hear acted like they've never heard of this type of document before, "what is it" "what does it do" asks Don and the reporter says "will I don't know it's not clear but lawyers I've spoken to think it's odd" ....

Well as I would imagine most people on our ALIPAC know this is the commonest of trust documents, which most people over 60 who own property or real estate use to hold or convey their assets. It's revocable so that if you don't die before you decide you want to change something, you are free to do so. You yourself can be the Trustee, you can name others to be the Trustee like Trump did, or you can do a combination and be your own Trustee while you are alive and name others to be the Trustee when you are deceased or unable to be Trustee yourself. Trump will use this method and then in 8 years, he revokes it and everything is returned to him and things proceed as they normally would have.

But this, something Americans do every day all over the country was "breaking news" on CNN.

    LOL!!!!

Oh yes, it's true! Different parts of my family have had at least 3 of these that I know about. And we're none of US billionaires. Most people use them to avoid probate upon a death. The properties and everything are in the trust and if you die, they transfer to the beneficiaries you named in the trust. Probate is costly and time-consuming and that's why the revocable living trust is used by many families today in the United States. When Trump was talking about putting them in a trust and the media is asking "a blind trust", he says "no, not a blind trust, a different trust", I was thinking why doesn't he do the living trust and name his kids as trustees and that's what he's done. It's a perfect solution for his situation.

CNN made this big deal about the NYT "investigating and finding the trust" as if it was some deep undercover discovery. One of the requirements of a living trust is recording the trust deeds to the properties, like you would a deed to any property, because you actually have to transfer title of all the real estate to the trust as the owner and you record the deeds in the name of the trust. So going down to the county courthouse in New York City would show the trust deeds for all his New York City properties. New York Times probably has a reporter who lives at the courthouse to get the big news of who bought what from whom and they would have seen the deeds. They probably have a mole there too who calls them and says "hey, Trump's lawyer just brought in 20 deeds to record". Of course the trust itself is not usually recorded, only the trust deeds to the property. It depends on the state. Each state has its own rules. And they have recorded the trust agreement itself. New York might require it above certain dollar limits to make sure there's no disputes or false claims of the about the agreement from relatives and what not in the event of a death.

I worked for a Financial Planner for many years as the Office Manager. Get your papers, your Will, your Trust up to date including your beneficiaries.

You do not have to name just ONE person as beneficiary on your policies...it leads to many fights and problems...I know from personal experience. People think the "oldest" child will handle everything and divide up the money with their siblings...WRONG. They become greedy, see big dollar signs, waste and spend the money and do not divide it up as the deceased would have wanted.

If you have a Life Insurance Policy and name only one child...that child, legally, does not have to give any of the money to other family members. Name each and every person on your policies to get equal shares...checks are cut separately. If you have a Spouse...they are the Primary Beneficiary if they are still alive. If you have children, or anyone else you want to name...they are the Secondary Beneficiary in the event you both pass at the same time.

Also, your Bank Account...the bank has a Form "Payable on Death (POD)". You want to name someone that your account will be accessible to in the event of you (and your Spouses death). They cannot access the money while you are still alive...only when you pass and have the Death Certificate. Then your beneficiary has access to your funds to handle your affairs and pay bills, etc. and the account is not held up in Probate.

I also believe that some States have some type of "Deed" that you can Deed your house or car over to, not the expert on that one.

I am sure DJT has all his affairs in order...these News agencies are out of control.
