Anyone see 60 Min. Sunday night?
They had a story about people tearing down small houses and building bigger ones. One of the places they focused on was Chevy Chase MD. where they passed a law stopping people from tearing down the old houses. They interviewed a local lady who's comment was "if they keep doing this, the area loses it's identity."
Boy did this resonate with me. The invasion keeps happening and America isn't the America we once knew. If Chevy Chase can enforce their law, why can't we enforce ours?Illegal aliens remain exempt from American laws, while they DEMAND American rights...

I SAW that, mapwife, and I felt SO sorry for that lady. It really just got more and more disgusting, didn't it??? People have just gone over the edge and they just can't be satisfied. I think that's one problem that is really causing harm to our country. People just want more and more and more THINGS. AND, one of the reasons they are able to afford those THINGS is the cheap illegal labor force.

She just lived in a small house that was part of the original neighborhood and it just made her house look PITIFUL compared.

Just look what happened to all the nice shops that used to line city streets. They are closing down and rotting, because of HUGE CEMENT MEGASTORES like Wal-Mart, Home-Depot, etc.
You wouldnt want to build a MANSION smack in the middle of a Trailer Park, would you? Some things just dont belong. And its unfair to make people who have lived somewhere their whole lives, feel like they have to move.RIP Butterbean! We miss you and hope you are well in heaven.-- Your ALIPAC friends

Right, Butterbean. I'm glad YOU grasped the concept! I'm sure the poor woman felt like she was being SWALLOWED up by all of those pretentious homes. Her little house was quaint and lovely but was DWARFED by those monstrosities!

The people who are harmed are those who have had their rights restricted. That old woman owns a house in that neighborhood. She didn't buy the entire neighborhood, and it wasn't given to her. When she bought that house, she knew or should have known that there were other property owners who had the right to tear down their houses and build bigger ones. Yet she bought a house there anyway. On my street, it is unlawful for a property owner to tear down their house and build a new one without the written consent of the architectural committee. When I bought property in that neighborhood, I was required to affirm in writing that I had read the covenants of the association and consent.
The guy who wants to build on his property has been harmed. He bought a piece of property with the knowledge that the law permitted him to tear down the house and build a bigger one. That's why he decided to invest in that neighborhood. Without compensating him, the oppressors imposed a restriction on that right.
When she invested in that neighborhood, this woman knew or should have known that others could rebuild.

Well, if it's BUSH himself, I would like to give him a piece of my mind. Otherwise, I won't waste my time arguing with him. You're right, BBean--he just wants to disagree with everything anyone says. I have NO NOTION why he's even HERE. Just another instigator, I guess. If he doesn't have anything better to do than disagree with everyone on the site, I think I would find a hobby! THE MAN (?) is CLUELESS.
