Here's something I just heard from an acquintance who is a casino worker working in the main cage where they process jackpots etc. Seems a Hispanic woman won a huge $$$$$ jackpot locally last week. She could barely speak English and when she went to pick it up could only produce a fake SScard. She had no driver's license. The casino said she would need that and (I think) another ID or no winnings. (Maybe there is another way for her to claim it but I didn't hear of that)

Anyway, she left making a scene and crying because she couldn't take out her windfall, and was heard telling a friend (in Spanish) that now the only thing she could do is find an attorney to legally change her name to match the SS card so she could then apply for a driver's license in that name and then claim her jackpot.

I guess if you win really big they look your ID over more carefully. Wonder if she drove herself to the casino in the first place.

I had never thought of the legal change of name scam to match "borrowed" SS cards before. In her case the name on the social security card was not even remotely Hispanic.

I was also informed that a very large proportion of casino customers here (Southern Cal) are Hispanic. Many are frequent customers spending hundreds of dollars almost daily. Guess they're just struggling to make a living for their poor downtrodden families. Too bad I can't afford to visit the casino, sounds like a fun way to spend the days.javascript:emoticon('')
