In the 70s in So Cal , you had to have juice to get a trade apprenticeship

There were no illegals in the trades in those days

I secured mine through my dad , not in construction but one that pays as well and is always in demand

At least no illegal alien can do my job

I fell sorry for you guys

It amazes me how some Americans are so proudly anti-American. I guess it is a result of the media, Hollywood, elite academia, and corporate propaganda.

A few months back on a different political message board, I read a post from a contractor who was saying the Mexican framing crew he hired was much more efficient, better, and faster. He fired the American crew he had, and let the illegals do their work. He said, "whites and blacks are too damn lazy to do this kind of work now days." There were even a couple of asses who agreed with him.

It made my blood boil. I posted that I myself have done manual, physical labor. That I excelled and received acclaim from my superiors. And many, many of the people I worked with were Americans and also worked extremely hard. I think this contractor is just a cheap prick. He even said that the illegals initially balked at the wage he was willing to pay. I explained that the presence of illegals itself devalues these jobs and their wages, de-incentivising Americans to work and work hard in these fields. Dump the illegals, the wages will rise, and right along with it the quality of workers.

If I had a nickel for every time I have heard an "American" claim that Americans are lazy, damn......Except for themselves of course. And if everyone saying this is indeed a hard worker, then it seems indeed that many Americans do work hard.

If Americans are so lazy, can somebody PLEASE explain why we have the greatest industrial economy in the history of civilization???? Why do we have so many multi-millionairs, and billionairs, if they all have lazy workforces under them????

-- Americans are the vast majority of every field of employment in our economy.

-- Americans are more productive per hour than any people on earth.

-- Americans work longer hours than any other First World people.

-- Americans annually take less vacation time than any other First World people.

Contractors are the only ones making money, I know I work for them and work side by side with illegals get this when they let me and they love to watch me roof. And if you check the numbers we're always out numbered 2 to 1 sometimes 3 to1. And the shear numbers is what kills my job security, 5yrs ago it was "please Mr. Roofer, do mine next! please" It went from one or two roofs a week to one or two a month. Me and my son did a roof for a contractor, and when we were done I knocked on the door "lady we're done" she comes out to see her beautiful new roof, and starts to cry. I'm like it's beautiful but nothing to cry about. She said to me," I was so afraid you would be mexicans, My father was stabbed to death by an illegal he hired to help him, he only had $26.00 on him." At that moment I realized that at least I'm still here to fight this anyway I can without violence and hatred.(ALIPAC) Sorry!Essay! nothing personal, I just need my job back, you know how it is!

That is because one American can do the work of 3 illegal immigrants.

aliens didnt take my employment away, the politicians wrecked the economy so the public cant afford to call tradesmen to thier homes to fix broke things.if they even own homes at all now anyway. there are illegal aliens out there doing plumbing, its my trade, but americans wont have them in to work. i wouldnt, and the public here in my parts wont either. anyone here let a grubby 3rd world uneducated fool that barely speaks english in thier home to botch up the plumbing, boiler, or heating system? all the while staring at daughters and wives? i think not. so, there is a lack of $$$ that drives this lack of calls.

Justthefacts must be in Boarder Patrol, that's about the only job they don't try to do. The retired firefighter and Sunday teacher I've roofed for, him his neighbors, his family. Told me today without me sayin' anything "they sure are costing the tax payers a lot of money" I'm like "who is" and he kind of hung head and said "illegal immigrants" I wanted to hug the guy, cause he would have never said that 2yrs.ago. Illegals are even takin' money from God. He wants me to do his mom's roof, thank God!

As the industry demand changes from new construction to remodels you will find more and more contractor's out there banding together and doing all the work themselves.
