Here is an example of a job opening placed on the web by a recruiter to make it look like an opening requires a hard to find skill set. The recruiter will claim that Americans could not be found so an H1-B will be required to fill the job. Why $82,500 and not $82,000?

Update:

I called the above number and was put in contact with a Mr. Joseph Williams, an individual from India with an accent so thick it was difficult to understand him. While it is quite possible that he is a Christian, his speal about "helping American citizens find work at the Church he attended" rang false and he got nervous a couple of times, getting very difficult to understand, at some point blabbing about "helping Americans, loving Americans, they help me, I help them, I love them, blah, blah". Even though he claimed to be a job placement coordinator he had no knowledge of the job seen in the ad above and had no idea why a 'Christmas wish list' job for a standard IT person in this troubled job market magically tops out at $82,500. I further mentioned the Department of Labor and how they investigate companies that put up false job ads to lure American resumes and reject them as a precondition for hiring H1-Bs. He then went on like an answering service that had no connection to the company, and all he could tell me to do was call a company "director" with a name so garbled I have no idea what he said.

My next step is to visit the company.

You will also notice that "Please apply by mail" is kind of puzzling since "Address: Northwestren Hwy" is just the name of a street that is many miles long. I talked to another person there, too, and again I got the impression that they functioned as an answering service for a director whose name sounded like a bunch of garbled syllables that I couldn't clearly understand or write down. Again no indication that the person I talked to knew how to find job openings at the company itself.
