Facts show immigrants don't deserve crime blame

Illegal immigrants get blamed for everything: rape, murder, robbery, you name it.
They are actually quite law-biding, as much as the rest of us, a Sun-Times report reveals.
They account for about 3 percent of the state's population and an equal percentage of inmates in Cook County jails. Less than 4 percent of adults in Illinois prisons have been identified as illegal immigrants.

The perception holds that more illegal immigrants equals more crime. That view is bolstered by lies told by anti-illegal immigrant groups like the Minutemen. They claim 64,000 U.S. citizens have been killed by illegal immigrants since Sept. 11, 2001. That would mean more than half the murders in the United States have been committed by illegal immigrants.

That's ludicrous.

Besides, the numbers don't add up. The FBI doesn't even track the data of offenders or victims based on their citizenship status. The data does show that nearly half of those arrested for murder or non-negligent manslaughter in 2006 were white. Only 1 percent of "criminal aliens" were in jail for murder in 2005, according to the Government Accountability Office.

Sadly, people tend to believe this anti-immigrant hype. They always have. One recent survey found most Americans believe immigrants boost crime. These same claims have been hurled at the Irish, Italians and Chinese at some point in America's history. Today we scapegoat Mexicans.

We don't blame all middle-age white guys for the crimes of John Wayne Gacy. We don't blame all black men for John Allen Muhammad's Beltway sniper-fest. We shouldn't blame all illegal immigrants, either.

Illegal alien's crimes begin the minute they cross the border, when they work, when they get and use fake ID, when they don't pay taxes...

Every last one of them has a criminal mentality.

The SunTimes is our Liberal Rag here in Chicago. Actually there many smaller ones but this rag is the biggest Liberal butt wipe in town.

Oh please. I would like to take that reporter and put him on the road as an observer in various areas of Miami Dade County. His story would change drastically. One place to take him would be the trailer park where illegal MS 13 and SurXIII gang members live that will shoot at police cars driving through. Then he could see the domestic violence cases, sexual assault cases involving minors, shop lifting, all those caught driving without a license, and more. Then I would take him to homicide in various cities and the neighboring counties to let him see cases involving illegals like the one case in Hollywood where the illegal was deported in February and returned months later and killed a roommate and stabbed another one which survived.

Suntimes another paper you can use to line your bird cage. I don't have to read statistics I've seen the crime rise with my own eyes. I've seen what happens when illegals come to town. What cave is this guy reporting from?

Wasn't an illegal involved in those shootings? I have no idea where the Sun Times pulls those figures, but I can't believe Chicago hasn't been effected by this. Our crime rate in Nashville is going through the roof and it is getting some spotlight in the opinion sections in the newspapers. And if you look at the crime maps provided for by the county, the crime is in the areas that have a heavy illegal population.

Just maybe Chicago lets all illegals go after a hit and run, robbery, etc. Who knows. But not for one second do I believe that article. Or maybe they all behave up in Chicago and are in synch with the rest of the populations statistics.

That's another piece of propaganda. Being killed does not equal being murdered. However, I bet the murder rate is pretty high still. Drunk drivers, burning down apartment complexes, etc. may not equate to murder, but they do equate to being killed.

I have a very large area of Nashville I'd like this person to live in for a while. And make them walk out at night when it is dark. On the flip side though it does seem the city and county are getting a handle on the gang violence from Brown Pride, MS-13, etc.

It's not just a liberal rag, its a protective rag. So is the Daily Southtown. The only time they name the criminals is when they are forced to do so. Otherwise you get these vague stories about a woman killing her toddler . . . blah blah there was no further information available. Or you hear about gang slayings . . . .etc. and until their hand is force they do not name them or if they have hispanic surnames they avoid anything that will determine they are here illegally. I have worked downtown for over 30 years and there was never any grafitti on office buildings/windows until the illegals came to town.
