Here in Oregon, they have finally acknowledged that the numbers of anchor baby's are overwhelming the school system, The Oregonian reported on the front page about Latino students numbers are on the rise, they say officials admit they do no know how many are illegal, they are not allowed to ask (you can check into OREGONLIVE.COM, this article was in Monday's paper).

Locally, police and city officials are finally cracking down on our problem here. The slumlord who rents to us and 33 units of illegal immigrants has been up in arms as Gresham Police and Multnomah County Sheriff have made themselves known in this little pocket third world community.

It is beleived that someone, if not quite a few, are dealing some type of drugs out of this complex. We have had police making themselves known since about June of 2005. The visits have stepped up.

The slumlord appears to be getting caught in troubles of his own making, and may be he is being warned of the loss of his property for the illegals he rents to and their activities. It also appears he had previously hooked up some phone lines and electricity illegally (this is verifiable information from the previous manager) and is now in trouble with the utilities as well. However, what can you expect from a man who will help illegal aliens break the laws for his own profits?

So the hopes are that the city of Gresham (Oregon) has finally realized that this type of landlord, and illegal tenants tend to bring with them more crime to neighborhoods and are starting to crack down.

Although this is a totally local issue, it is a part of the whole fight to stop illegal aliens from getting a foothold here, and to also discourage landlords who think it alright to rent to them, aiding them by harboring them (no good comes of it).

We personally are pleased to see the potential breakdown of our town begin to be put to a stop, however it could mean that we will have to move on a "dime", which is a rough spot to be put in, but to put this man and his lawbreaking out of business, it's a small price.
