Thread: Stimulus Package Schedule in the Senate

I just heard on C-Span that the Stimulus package is expected to hit the Senate floor as early as tonight or possibly tomorrow.

There is a rummor that Senate Finance Committee altered the bill to block illegal immigrants from receiving benefits.

I will keep you posted when I find something that can be confirmed.

The Senate Fincance Committe has finished the mark-up of the Stimulus Bill, so it is ready to come to the Senate Floor.

Reid just said, No more roll call votes tonight in the Senate. This bill will be taken up tomorrow.

They are debating about what amendments will be voted on regarding the Stimulus bill. They are trying to reach an agreement.

I just received a return phone call from Alex C. in Senator Mikuski's office.

He stated to me that Fox and the Blogs have it wrong. Illegal Aliens will not get rebate checks. and their are 3 versions and none have been signed by Bush.

Time to call the White House.

I think that clown was trying to confuse you. There are three versions of the bill.

The one introduced in the house, the one passed by the house, one that has gone to the Senate committe.

It is said that the Senate Fincance Committe stripped the illegal benefits out but I have not confirmed that. It has been mentioned on a national TV show about an hour ago so I believe it happend. However, the bill will go back to joint committe with the House and they have to approve the changes the SEnate made. We are not out of the water yet.

Dixie...The Finance Committee tabled the Amendment...at least for the time being.

CA Rep. Ed Royce is on John and Ken right now (4:15 PST)...talking about the stimulus bill and illegals.

He said that 1040 filings do not stipulate whether or not you are illegal; and NOTHING is audited for fraud! He said that illegals can claim up to 9 dependents and get $300/per child...even if they have paid NO income tax! And he talked about the earned income tax credit fraud...which is also unchecked!

He said checks are mailed to the address of the individual filing, or in some cases...they are mailed to Mexico if the person has left the country!

Lou Dobbs just reported that there is no certainty that Ensign's Amendment will be accepted by the Finance Committee. He said there was some outrage from Ensign and Grassley, but Senate Finance Committee looked at it briefly and didn't even want to discuss it..and tabled it!

I believe Royce he use to be my Congressman. He is a straight shooter and a man of integrity. He won't lie to you. If they can get it according to him, they can get it. PERIOD.

This bill is going to the Senate floor today.

Based on what I just heard from Grassley, the Senate can pass the bill as it came out of committee, which contains the Ensign amendment that stripped benefits for illegals but included them for seniors and the disabled.

The Senate can bring it to the floor, add amendments or pass it as it comes out of the committee.
