Did the victims in the Colorado Movie Theater see this Gangster Squad Trailer?

Ok, according to this blogger report. This trailer for Gangster Squad was released by the same company and same studio that just released Dark Knight which debuted nationally last night.

As all of know, Dark Knight is the film people were watching when a gunman came through the back theater doors, launched gas or smoke grenades and started firing into the audience.

On the surface, this terrible tragedy is already aligned with elements of Dark Knight which I am told contains an antagonist with a mask, and smoke/gas gun sequences in the film.

In fact, one article linked to by Drudge this morning claims that the shooter came in and used gas and guns at the point in the film when gas and guns were being displayed....

But here is the wild part. According to a blogger report from NIKKI FINKE writing for deadline.com

The victims in the theater may have watched a movie trailer before Dark Knight Rising was shown. Reports indicate the theatrical trailer from Gangster Squad which is produced by the same company and studio releasing Dark Knight has been running in theaters this morning. It may have been released yesterday and show to movie goers on Friday.

You have to see this with your own eyes because at the end of the new movie trailer there is an image of movie goers being gunned down from the screen by mobsters with machine guns!

Lots of strange "coincidences" around this Colorado theater shooting just like there were around 9/11 and the Columbine massacre.

EXCLUSIVE: This was truly terrible decision-making by Warner Bros – both to release a trailer like this and then not to pull it immediately after today’s tragedy. I have confirmed that the studio which released The Dark Knight Rises paired it with the official movie trailer for Gangster Squad, an upcoming pic set in 1949 about a ruthless Mafia Godfather who runs Los Angeles. One of the scenes in the trailer that’s been playing all morning today shows a gangster with a machine gun shooting up people in a movie theater from behind the big screen. Several moviegoers tipped me to this scene.


This morning I called on Warner Bros to take this trailer down immediately. The studio’s response to me? “There’s a meeting about this and then a decision will be reached.” I just received the call that the trailer is being pulled. But only after I complained. And yet movie moguls wonder why so much of the country hates Hollywood values where money trumps everything, even during the Aurora theater shooting tragedy. Here’s the horrible clip which no one at Warner Bros should have allowed to be made, much less released, in the first place:

As I have posted this, I see that the Youtube copy of this trailer was posted on May 30, 2012 and has over 65,000 views already. So this trailer has been out online for almost two months.

I cant help but wonder if the people that were shot saw this before it happened?

The theater massacre scene in the trailer is near the end of the video at 2:05. Several gangsters with Tommy guns fire through the screen on the unsuspecting audience.

What are the Colordo gun laws? Why were there no conceal carry permit holders in the audience? Here in NC the chances are high that someone would have returned fire on that shooter seconds after he started his slaughter.

If there had been conceal carry permit holders in the audience, the chances are likely someone would have returned fire on this shooter quickly ending this rampage.

I've never owned or touched a gun, but in recent months have been seriously contemplating going out to take classes to use one with everything that's going on. Something I've read from reports though is that this guy had a bullet proof vest, a helmet, and other types of gear. Since I'm not familiar with firing guns, would it have still been possible to take him down given that he was well armored? Is it difficult to aim at someones face? His face seemed to be covered with a gas mask so I'm not sure if that would have protected him in that area.

Yes, I had heard that too about the body armor. He probably would have been very difficult to take down. A head shot is very difficult for the average gun owner. :(

I don't know what I'd do in that situation. Everything would be happening so fast. If I take out my gun and just aim and shoot in his direction and nothing happens, surely he'll respond and shoot at me. How am I to know if he's wearing body armor? Do gun classes teach you how to take down such individuals? Just try to aim for the head? Legs? Arms?

I don't know. I don't have a concealed carry permit, not yet at least. It's something on my to do list though!

In a case like this you would just have to kneel down in the aisle for stability and cover if that would allow you a safe shot over others, or you might have to stand up to get a clear shot.

Your rounds could penetrate the armor or hit a weak spot. Even if your rounds do not penetrate, depending on what you are shooting they could still hurt or even knock the suspect down. Knocking the suspect down or stunning him could allow others to take control of his guns. If you were carrying a Glock you could have 14 rounds and you would just do your best to hit him both center mass or in the head. If those rounds were hitting and not effective you could go for his gun arm, groin, or leg.

Even if you were at the movie alone, you should think of everyone else in the audience as your dearest loved one as you decide what to do.

Your options without conceal carry are to run and get shot, rush the gunman and get shot, or sit there in terror and get shot.

At least with a gun you have a chance of taking him down and saving lives even if you lose your own in the process.

And if there are multiple conceal carry folks in the audience there is a chance that more than one of you could pour fire on this guy at once.

Even with the armor, the pain of being hit by your rounds could send this guy instinctively running for the door.

You simply draw, you aim, you fire, and do your best not to hit any bystanders while doing so. The more you practice at a range or on private property, the more natural and smoothly you will be able to perform in a crisis situation if God forbid you ever end up in one.

Every sane conceal carry permit holder prays that they never have to fire a round at another human being.

Last night's shooting in Aurora, Colorado was extremely tragic, as more than a dozen people were killed in another Gun Free Kill Zone.

At the opening showing of “The Dark Knight Rises," James Holmes dressed up in costume and murdered several people while the movie was barely thirty minutes into the story. The gunman used a movie gunfight to cover his actions and further surprise the innocent patrons. Worse, the theater in Aurora reportedly has a "no guns" policy.
Despite gun control's obvious failure, the calls for more restrictions have already begun:

* Piers Morgan of CNN came out of the box, calling for more gun control in the wake of the shooting.

* New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the strategy of people arming themselves for self-defense just "doesn't work."

* And the Brady Campaign took the opportunity to tell the nation that, "This is yet another horrific reminder that guns enable mass killings."

Tragically, many were killed last night. But it is also tragic that there was not another gun-toting Samuel Williams at the theater -- the senior who rescued several Floridians against two armed thugs at an Internet cafe last week. (You can read the story and watch the exciting video here.)

And of course, while the national media is sure to focus on this Aurora, Colorado shooting for days to come, there is another shooting in that same city that you probably heard nothing about -- when a worshipper at an Aurora church stopped a shooting this past April
In that shooting, the bad guy was only able to kill one person in the parking lot, as the armed hero took him out before any other damage could be done.

Funny how the national media tends NOT to pick up stories where the good guy stops the perp!

To keep this in perspective, whenever we hear about horrid shootings like the one last night in Aurora, Colorado, we should remember that guns save as many as 80 lives for every one that is tragically taken. See the Gun Owners of America Fact Sheet here

The national Tea Party organization incorrectly linked to the man charged with the Colorado shootings by a broadcast news reporter on Friday fired back on the media for "reckless and false reporting."

The group, Tea Party Patriots, is one of the largest national organizations for the grassroots Tea Party activists. In a statement released Friday, the group's co-founder Jenny Beth Martin agreed with President Obama that "this is a day of prayer and reflection," an unusual stance taken by a group known for anti-Obama political activism.

"This is not a day for reckless accusation," Martin said in the statement. "It is irresponsible for any media outlet to suggest anyone was responsible for this tragedy other than those involved. The families of the victims are in our prayers, our hearts go out to them, and that’s where our concern for them should be today. We call on ABC News to immediately stop all reckless and false reporting, and we are putting all media outlets on notice that false political attacks on the American people will no longer be tolerated. We demand the media report responsibly."

ABC News correspondent Brian Ross, speaking on air, connected the Tea Party Patriots profile of a man named Jim Holmes who lives in Aurora, Colo., to the shooter who killed at least a dozen people at a midnight movie screening in the town.

The man accused of opening fire in the movie theater in Aurora, Colo. was identified by police as James Holmes, but he is not the same man Ross found online. There was no evidence to connect the two.

"There is a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colo., page on the Colorado Tea Party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year," Ross reported on air earlier on Friday.

Ross later apologized on air, saying, "An earlier report that I had was incorrect that [the alleged shooter] was connected with the Tea Party. In fact, that's a different Jim Holmes. He was not connected to the Tea Party and what we do know about him is he is a 24-year-old white male who went to Colorado for a Ph.D."

ABC News also apologized for the false accusation in a statement: "An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted."

Prior to that statement, ABC noted that "members of the public" contacted many other "local residents with similar names" through social media in the early aftermath of the shooter's name being released with few other details. Mashable reported that at least one other James Holmes listed on Facebook responded to a deluge of requests and messages due to his name, clarifying in a public note that he is not "a 24-year-old gun-slinging killer from Aurora." There are at least six men listed under the name James Holmes in Denver and 21 in the state of Colorado.

Colorado police have the suspect in custody.

First off James Holmes was from San Diego, he could not get a job after college so he had decided to get his PHD in Colorado. No one is clear on his motive, but I heard on one program that it is common for sickos to take on the personality or act out as a comic book or movie character. They believe he was taking on the persona of the Joker. They believe that is why he rigged his apt with bombs, and then told the police. I am not that familiar with the Batman Movies, but they said that is how the Joker character acted in the movies. The theory is he wanted fame. If that is the case if he did not have used a gun he would have found some other way to kill people and become famous.

Yes he had a mask, neck guard, groin protection, vest and leggings, because he did not want to die, example he surrendered with no fight. But last week in Sacramento a 79 year old lady was killed in her own house while the Police were outside waiting. The man had been chased out of a house he had broke into. He had been followed as he went from door to door trying to gain entrance. He managed entrance into a house occupied by this poor lady. As the police set there waiting he ran out of the house naked covered in blood. They found her dead inside. The media pronounced 4 senior woman killed in their homes in the last 2 months. They said seniors were being preyed on due to the poor economy and cutbacks in police protection. They went through a list of precautions, excluding being armed with a gun.

I listened in shock and the realization that in California we can not look to our government for protection. The word is spreading and seniors are now enrolling and taking the courses. From now on if our kids want to find granny they had better look at the gun ranges.

The Century Theater was a gun free zone, so only the bad guy came in with weapons.

Also the young man was mentally unbalanced and under the influence of drugs according to reports and still thinks of himself as The Joker in his jail cell.
Hollywood Violence + mental illness = Mega Disaster. As brought up earlier if a person in the theater had been lawfully armed the carnage would not have happened or been kept to a minimum. This is a good example of what happens when everyone but the criminal is unarmed.

Because of the old conundrum about life imitating art or art imitating life.

The elites know that if they keep putting repetitive messages and images into their movies and media that people, especially younger impressionable people, will begin to imitate those messages and images.

The idea is that if you keep putting certain "inputs" into the mass media machinery and thus putting said "inputs" into the minds of citizens, then your inputs because the shaping memories of the citizens. More and more people live in a synthetic reality world where more and more of our memories are of things we actually read, saw, heard, or thought about from mass media.

Those mass media systems recently started putting out images of mass murders in theaters that were presented in a way to make them seem attractive, cool, and something to imitate. Now someone dressed as one of their movie characters has mass murdered a bunch of people in a theater.

That's the way it works.

That depends on the situation. I think that knowingly and repetitively broadcasting false information that is likely to result in violence against someone like the Southern Poverty Law Center, ADL, and other George Soros groups are doing should be addressed.

We need some laws to protect people from falsely being attacked at racist or anti-semetic etc... without firm verifiable evidence of such since such branding can result in job loss, divorce, hostile discrimination against, and violent attacks and murder of the intended target.

It's been a very eye opening past couple of days and so I'm really considering going to gun school. I've arleady found one near me. Much like learning to drive a car, I feel everyone should at least learn how to operate a hand gun. I may ask the instructor his/her opinion on Alipac's advice on how to deal with situations like the cinema massacre. I don't want to ever be put in such a situation, but you just never know.


As for this Hollywood angle, I just don't know. I'm a big proponent of personal responsibility. There should be no laws against what people can watch or what the industry can make. People advocate for stricter gun laws or outright banning of high cholesterol, diabetes inducing food. Guess what though? These don't kill, it's the people that do. I choose not to eat too much junk food and try to exercise on a daily basis, but unfortunately many Americans choose to sit on the couch, watching television, doing nothing about their personal health. But if that's what they want to do, then let them, it's a free country. Censoring what we hear or see on television or radio will not stop a madman from committing massacres. I went to see the Dark Knight yesterday with my friends, and I didn't come out of the theater with a lust to kill. It's the lack of empathy that makes these people do what they do. The problem is a scientific one. We need to figure out ways to diagnose brains that are not wired correctly before the individual does something terrible.

Well like I said, I'm all for personal responsibility AND freedom of choice. If I was told my brain was not wired correctly and that it would thus lead to me becoming unstable and possibly hurt those I love or complete strangers, I would take the RESPONSIBLE action and do something to get the problem fixed. There should be the OPTION of allowing people to get their issues fixed. But the technology needs to be available first. I'm an atheist and fully believe in science as the answer to most of the problems in society and giving people better options to lead a safe and healthy life.

With all the military presence there I was surprized none of them were armed. I do have a carry concealed permit, but the reason I got it was I work around so many illegals and they have taken over my neighborhood in NC. Since registering in NC I am also legal in many other States! All I have to do is notify the local Police, they MAY ask me to fill out their forms but I do NOT need to apply again. Which I find very cool.

My only problem is if I go home to Canada..LOL! I have the choice of trying to hide it or leave it with friends on the rez before I cross over. I always leave it with TRUSTED friends. Canada has strange gun laws in my opinion! As a Native I can have a rifle... No prob, but a hand gun? You have to go thru too many hoops, and still your chances are slim to none. Did you know even COPS can't carry their service weapon home?

I dont think the answer is necessarily legislating or outlawing things.

I think the answer may be that we need to reject this gangster culture on our streets and when Hollywood and the music industries glorify it.

Surely there must be some way we as a nation can return to the values that predate the ganster culture model that has led to so much violence and death?

I mean seriously, when movie makers are putting out things like Machete and Gangster Squad and Inglorious Bastards, there is no resistance. There is usually no resistance because those being slaughtered in the films are characterized as being racist and therefore somehow deserved of mass violence.

Well guess what folks, in the minds of the people making these movies.... all of us are the racists that they are telegraphing mass murder of. In Machete, they were slaughtering civilian border watchers like Minutemen. In Inglorious Bastards they made the mass murder victims Nazis but of course we have been called Nazis because some skinhead once posted a link to our site on a blog. And even if that had not happened, the left would still call us racists and nazis simply because we want our border secured and immigration laws enforced. Not sure who they make the enemy that gets slaughtered in the theater in Gangster Squad yet.

I think the answer may be that we need to reject this gangster culture on our streets and when Hollywood and the music industries glorify it.

Surely there must be some way we as a nation can return to the values that predate the ganster culture model that has led to so much violence and death?

I mean seriously, when movie makers are putting out things like Machete and Gangster Squad and Inglorious Bastards, there is no resistance. There is usually no resistance because those being slaughtered in the films are characterized as being racist and therefore somehow deserved of mass violence.

Well guess what folks, in the minds of the people making these movies.... all of us are the racists that they are telegraphing mass murder of. In Machete, they were slaughtering civilian border watchers like Minutemen. In Inglorious Bastards they made the mass murder victims Nazis but of course we have been called Nazis because some skinhead once posted a link to our site on a blog. And even if that had not happened, the left would still call us racists and nazis simply because we want our border secured and immigration laws enforced. Not sure who they make the enemy that gets slaughtered in the theater in Gangster Squad yet.

There must be a way to change the culture, but sadly, it is difficult. Just look at our politics. We're stuck with either Obama and Romney precisely because the nation refuses to say no to both parties and accept a third party candidate not beholden to the established two party system. But at least with politics, an Internet social movement/campaign could make a significant difference, but with culture, the negative aspects are just so embedded. If we can't get it done with our political landscape, it's definitely going to be much much harder to get it done on the cultural level.

(Reuters) - Maine police arrested a heavily armed man driving on the state turnpike who carried clippings about the cinema massacre in Colorado and claimed he attended the new "Batman" film with a loaded gun, authorities said on Monday.

Timothy Courtois, 49, was driving 112 mph on the Maine Turnpike with an AK-47 assault weapon, four handguns and several boxes of ammunition in his car when state police pulled him over about 10 am on Sunday, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.

He told police that he was headed to Derry, New Hampshire to shoot a former employer, McCausland said in a statement.

Courtois told police he had attended the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight," at a theater in Saco, Maine on Saturday night with a loaded gun in his backpack, he said.

Police found clippings in his car about the mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado, where 12 people were killed and 58 wounded by a gunman at a Friday showing of "The Dark Knight," he said.

At Courtois' home in Biddeford, Maine, police found several additional guns, including a machine gun, and thousands of rounds of ammunition, he said.

Courtois was slated to appear in court on Monday in Springvale District Court on initial charges of speeding and carrying a concealed weapon, McCausland said.

The audience that was attacked by James Holmes watched a Trailer for Gangster Squad showing gangsters opening fire on an unsuspecting audience of movie goers before the batman movie.

Violent theater scene to be cut from 'Gangster Squad'

Repercussions of the Aurora, Colo. theater shooting continue as Variety reports that the upcoming movie "Gangster Squad" will omit a scene in which gangsters open fire on the unsuspecting audience of a crowded movie theater.

The scene was featured prominently in the film's trailer, which ironically ran right before Thursday night's fateful screening of "The Dark Knight Rises." The trailer was pulled from subsequent screenings by Warner Bros. and now Variety reports that the studio is taking action on the film itself in consideration of the 12 people killed and dozens injured in the horrific massacre: The entire theater sequence of the movie will be cut, and reshoot plans are being put into motion.
