    WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

If this bill passes, those who are here illegally will be given instant Legal Status (amnesty) and 8-13 years to pay the $5,000 fine. Does the $5,000 apply to each illegal family member or family unit and how does this apply to a child who is illegal?

What happens to those who do not pay the $5,000 fine in the 8-13 years or maybe never pays it? Some people will not be able to save that much money over a life time and may not even be able to borrow it. Legal status will be all that some will want. Do they get to remain here with Legal Status, if so that is amnesty by all definitions.

What happens to those who do not pass a criminal background check? Are they going to be rounded up and deported or allowed to stay as illegal criminals?

What happens to those who came in after December 31,2006? Are they going to be rounded up and deported?

This bill is so full of holes that if passed will never be implemented. Only things we will see in Legal Status and Amnesty given to more than 20 million and more to come and the American citizen will be pushed deeper into poverty.
No bill is better than this bill because it will cost the Americans citizen trillions.

They only have to pay if they want citizenship. They can renew the z-visa forever if they just want legal status. I think Most will do just that.

If this bill passes it means it is time to clean house. Then work to get the law repealed. This is the biggest giveaway in American History and most Americans are going to just stand by and let it happen. What a shame, what a damn shame.

You mean if this bill passed the Senate and THEN the House? Don't give up yet.

They have no intention of paying the 5000.00 and have said so. The proponents of this bill know that as well. It's just in the bill as another way to not call it amnesty. They don't care a hoot about citizenship, just want to live here and take the jobs and reap the benifits witch the most generous country in the worlds' politicians so willingly give them.

Push the language from the CBO report saying that this bill will not stop illegal immigration but only decrease it by 25 percent. "That this would preempt certain state and local authority, require state, local, and tribual governments to verify the work eligibility of their employees (another unfunded mandate)." the fact that CBO says that the public and state and local government must bear the costs of verification is not included in the estimated costs provided in the CBO estimate. Everyone needs to remember that no one even knows how many illegals are in the country. In addition the Bill 1348 does nothing about recongizating that children born of illegals should not be given US birth certificates.

this bill offers nothing for those that believe America is a nation with its immigration laws that should be enforced. If this bill passes the senate we need to fight that much harder in the house. Kyl said he had some plans up his sleeve to ensure that the house supports the bill and we need to put more pressure on our representatives. they are all up for re-election in 2008. anyone that votes for this bill needs to removed from office then.
