DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — The City of Durham is now offering Spanish-language educational program on the local government's television channel.

Officials said Monday that it will offer 30 minutes of programming for Spanish-speaking residents each night. The content will cover topics ranging from mortgage help to preventing identity theft.

Durham spokeswoman Beverly Thompson says the new material is an important step in the city's efforts to provide programming that serves the diverse community. She says officials want all Durham residents to rely on Durham Government Television as a source for information.

The programming is provided by the Federal Trade Commission.
