While I am generally an outside agitator and all-around ruckus raiser I do notice things. One of those things is the timing it takes to get a well vaulted lead for President. Had Gen. Powell followed his timing we would have been the USA's first black president, IMO.

We are now 21 months away from the 2008 presidential election and yet none of the candidates seem appealing to the entire nation. In the mix we have an old war hero who seems to side with GW. Bush on everything, An ex-presidents wife, a few anti-illegal alien politicians, a mid-western senator and a black American who some black citizens don't feel really understands their culture.

None of them have what Mayor Lou Barletta of Hazleton PA has, and that is timing. You see right now the Mayor is in a knock-down, drag out fight over his cities ordinances that crack-down on illegal immigration. This position has gotten the mayor lots of face time with America on National TV programs and made him a household name nationwide, something that spikes him right up there with a few of the current candidates.

Not only that Barletta has the opportunity to keep his un-paid for exposure during the length of the trial. Let's face it, the likelihood of this trial ending quickly and in his favor is a bit of a long shot, what with him and his small legal team standing up against well supported and highly experienced lawyers from groups like the ACLU.

Lets take a minute and suppose that this first trial ends and not in Hazleton's favor. There would be the obvious appeal. This appeal, in my estimation (again as an outsider) would seem to fall right around the end of this year, beginning of next year. This second trial would most likely gain the Mayor much more support from people all around the nation.

Now if that happens, the mayor would have what no other candidate will have. And that is a solid, non-wavering stance on a highly decisive issue. For years the American public has been fooled, tricked and down right screwed by politicians making empty promises just to win the Presidency, but Mayor Barletta would show the American public that he cares not for office, nor for big business support. He would show, by standing his ground on this issue, that he would do what was right for his city and what the people demanded. And if this man will take that kind of heat and stand up against a wall of criticism and seemingly indestructible foes for what his citizens of this small Pennsylvania town want, imagine what he would do for the US Citizens.

Unfortunately my powers of observation have also shown me that the man who should run for president most likely never will. Mayor, if you or your one of your assistants is reading, please know that I live far away in Dallas, TX. I am an independent, most likely voting for Tancredo at this point, but he has a slim chance of winning a primary against well-paid for politicians.

It is my hope that at the very least you can run for Senate when this all falls in your favor.

Good luck in court this week Hazelton and God Bless!
