    Illegal Immigrant Crime Numbers Released
Hispanic Leaders Claim Statistics Are Misleading
    Jason Barry
    Reporter, KPHO.com

    POSTED: 9:22 pm MST April 20, 2010
    UPDATED: 11:05 pm MST April 20, 2010

PHOENIX -- Crime is ever present, but new numbers give a glimpse into how much is linked to illegal immigrants.

According to statistics obtained by CBS 5 News, 19 percent of the inmates in Maricopa County Jail are suspected illegal immigrants being held on an immigration or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

In Pima County, the number of inmates suspected of being illegal immigrants is around 10 percent.

In Pinal County, the number of inmates suspected of being illegal immigrants is around 30 percent.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said if Gov. Jan Brewer signs the immigration bill to toughen Arizona's immigration laws, the amount of crime in local communities would drop dramatically.

"These are people that are always armed and they're creating an extreme risk to my deputies -- and that, I'm not going to tolerate," said Babeu.

However, Hispanic community leader Bishop Minerva Carcano said she thinks lawmakers and law enforcement officers are misinterpreting the numbers.

"It wont reduce crime," Carcano said. "What it will do is create fear -- extreme fear -- that will affect neighborhoods and will affect families and children. We don't need a state where we all live in fear."

County attorney: Illegal immigrants generating large crime numbers

Phoenix Business Journal - by Mike Sunnucks

Illegal immigrants account for one-third of the drug convictions; 44 percent of forgery convictions and 20 percent of the felony DUI convictions in the Phoenix area, according to a study by Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

Thomas said Thursday that illegal immigrants make up 19 percent of those convicted of crimes in Maricopa County and 21 percent of those in county jails.

There are an estimated 579,000 illegal immigrants in the state, making up 9 percent of Arizona’s population, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. Illegals accounted for 10 percent of sex crimes, 11 percent of murders and 13 percent of stolen cars, according to Thomas’ office, which looked at 2007 sentencing and jail statistics.

Thomas and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio take hard-line stances on immigration. They face election-year challenges from attorney Tim Nelson and Dan Saban, who promise less strident immigration stances

Statistics: Crimes Commited by Illegal Aliens
    FBI/INS Releases Numbers

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/articl ... tml?cat=17

Illegal immigrants cause many problems for The United States. Sometimes referred to as Illegal Aliens, these people have entered the United States via illegal methods. The FBI recently
issued a set of statistics regardingcrimes committed by illegal immigrants in the United States. The numbers are alarming.

In Los Angeles, over 95% of arrest warrants issued for the crime of murder are for illegal aliens. At least 83% of arrest warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens. The number climbs to 86% for Albuquerque. The most wanted lists for each of these cities is comprised of at least 75% illegal aliens.

The problem of prison overcrowding in California has been in the media many times over the past few months. Governor Schwarzenegger has attempted to gain relief from the overcrowding problem by shipping inmates to facilities in other states. Nearly 25% of the California prison population is comprised of illegal aliens. In Arizona, illegal aliens make up over 40% of the prison population and in New Mexico, the number is nearly 50%.

Illegal aliens account for nearly 30% of prison populations nationwide. This includes both state and federal prisons. The cost to house these illegal aliens is more than $1.6 billion dollars each year.

Statistics from 2005 indicate that over 75% of automobile thefts that occurred in Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas, and New Mexico were either stolen by illegal aliens or used to transport illegal aliens. Almost half of the drivers stopped in California for traffic violations have no driver's license, insurance, or registration.

92% of those are illegal aliens.

In Arizona, 63% of those stopped have no license, registration or insurance and 97% of those people are illegal aliens.

New Mexico's percentages are 66% stopped with no license, insurance and registration and 98% of those are illegal aliens.

Is this what you are looking for????

    Here's some interesting stats:

… A report issued by Maricopa County's Attorney General Andrew Thomas in October 2008 reveals the extent of Arizona's problem with crime committed by illegal immigrants.

In 2007, illegal immigrants accounted for:

    10% of sex crimes convictions
    11% of murders convictions
    13% of stolen cars convictions
    13% of aggravated assaults convictions
17% of those sentenced for violent crimes
19% of those sentenced for property crimes
20% of those sentenced for felony DUI
21% of crimes committed with weapons
34% of those sentenced for the manufacture, sale or transport of drugs
36% of those sentenced for kidnapping
    44% of forgeries
50% of those sentenced for crimes related to "chop shops"
    85% of false ID convictions
    96% of smuggling convictions

Illegal immigrants make up 19 percent of those convicted of crimes in Maricopa County and 21 percent of those in county jails.

Illegal immigrants make up an estimated 9 percent of the county's population.

It is estimated that each violent crime cost citizens $20,000, and each property crime cost citizens $4363 per offense.
