my reply from NC Gov. Easley
Thank you for contacting Gov. Mike Easley on this important issue.
Gov. Easley says it is in North Carolina’s interest to allow immigrants to attend North Carolina community colleges if they qualify and pay out-of-state tuition. Out of state tuition more than covers the cost of the service, so no tax dollars pay for their education. These are young people who were brought here as babies or youngsters, through no fault of their own. They distinguished themselves in our public schools.
Gov. Easley will not grind a heel in their faces and slam doors on them. The community college systems must be open to everyone so they can become productive members of our society and help North Carolina and America compete in the world economy. To do otherwise would be to set a policy that is destined to build a weaker North Carolina. We do not want to reap the consequences of that.
Denying immigrants access to community colleges does not penalize them, it penalizes our state and innocent children. Any problems with immigration exist because of the United States Congress’ failure to accept its Constitutional responsibility to deal honestly with immigration policies.
Thank you,
Office of the Governor

Thanks for the post! We'll keep it for later ...Illegal immigration and the war in Iraq have 2 things in common:
1. Nationalize expenses 2. Privatize profits

Ah! Looks like they changed their standard reply after his confession.
First, they tried to pan the blame on someone else.
The Easley admitted his role and now they are sending this out.
People are not going to like this at all.

Ask the Governor who will check that they are healthy if they arrived here illegally. We recently had a day laborer with multiple drug resistant TB that we had to jail and treat before deporting. That is not the only factor, but an important one when you are in a close environment with many young people.
We no longer require TB tests in school like when I was a child. I think the main reason is that they don't want to expose the large numbers of illegal kids who are positive.
And, there is something very wrong when an illegal can afford out of state tuition. Most families are struggling and need loans to accomplish even in state tuition. Maybe its because they don't pay healthcare or income taxes?

"Gov. Easley will not grind a heel in their faces and slam doors on them."
Well then he should get his own house with it own door and then they can move in with him.
The doors to community colleges, the seats inside them and the jobs sitting in one leads to all belong to the people of the North Carolina, not Mike Easley or his caravan of illegal aliens.

Are North Carolinians able to recall their governor like Californians did with Davis? If so, the citizens of North Carolina should start collecting signatures in order to boot this guy out of office. He won't be reelected so he might as well pack his bags sooner than later.
