Enrique Frias went straight to the money agent at Plaza Fiesta mall on Buford Highway and sent $150 to his son in Mexico.

Within 15 minutes, the money arrived in the rural town where the boy and his grandmother live.

WE live in a very small town with almost now evidence of illegals. They are here, but we aren't snowed under with them.

My daughter came home of a year to go back to school, and worked as asst mgr of a small grocery store. They were one of 3 places that could send money - one of them being the PO. One night we sat around and figured up the amount that probably was going out of just this small town, if every other place sent as much as they did.

I wish I could remember, but it was astounding! At the time, I thought what good that could do for this small town's economy if it were being spent here, even saved here.

How about taxing that sent money at the same rate as gas or cigarettes. The tax revenue could be used to build the fence and hire additional BP agents.

There has been some talk about just that. I think that would be a great idea.

How about posting ICE agents at these places and they can do their job and deport them!!
So much for the theroy they help our economy looks to me the only economy they are helping is their home country. More money for the top 1 per cent in that country.

At what rate are cigarettes taxed?
Depends on where you live....there's federal, state, county, city....heck it's what 8 bucks a pack in Chicago? I do 4.00....outside of there....that is until they do the new increase....

We were driving through a West TExas town on Friday afternoon once and the line at the check cashing and money sending store was a block long - all Hispanics.

But ICE can't find them - they spend thousands of dollars and 6 months investigating to catch 6 illegals.

Thats a great I idea! And $15 dollars is steep to send money!!! So is 30% of my weekly pay is steep for you to get services while I get nothing from my own government!!!

If I can get away with paying $15 dollars a week in taxes a get away with it I would do it!!!! Us Americans pay our taxes quietly and with out complaint! But we get nothing by paying our Federal income tax not even representation from our elected officials!!! Now who is getting the raw deal here??? HMMMM

Cigarette tax in Tennessee was just increased July 1st. to $0.62 per pack of 20s, $6.20 per carton, although the tax protest site states the average at $6.10 per carton.
I am a smoker and I like "an occasional" beer, but I would much rather see a tax hike on alcohol than cigarettes. I live in a tobacco farming state, but that's another subject.
    ...........
Just a few weeks ago I saw an ad on tv for a Visa "green card", or "green Visa", something like that. It's obviously aimed at illegals for sending cash. It's (they say) not a credit or debit card from any bank, but one that you can add cash to use anywhere..."and to conveniently send cash anywhere".
I would guess that one would have to go to a participant and physically hand them cash to be credited to the "green Visa"? Another opportunity to load 'em up & ship 'em out! ICE should get in the back of the line and command an "about face!" followed by "all aboard!"
I haven't seen the ad for a few weeks but for some time it was on every night.
Maybe they were swamped with protests?
