Close All Accounts with Citibank and Chase

Banks to set up shop at Mexican Consulate

"The Consulate General of Mexico signed an agreement Monday with three U.S. banks that could make Mexican nationals more comfortable with the banking industry.

Chase, Citibank and Laredo National Bank will take turns each day manning a desk in the Mexican Consulate on Navarro Street. They will answer questions for Mexican nationals about financial services and products with the hope of eventually turning them into customers at area branches."

I already closed my Citibank account for other political reasons last week and I will close my Chase account today. CapitalOne better not begin catering to illegals or I won't have any credit cards left.

I have a chase credit card. Looks like I'll have to cancel my account, then cut up my card and mail them the pieces. You would think these losers would have learned a lesson from bank of America.

Closing your accounts at Citi might be a good idea for reasons other than just pandering to illegal aliens. One they have a lot of exposier to the subprime housing mess and are set to take more billion dollar write downs. If we get rid of the illegals they are going to lose more billions of dollars due to home and auto loans they have approved for the illegals.

JP Morgan Chase actively recruits and hires foreigners..many from China, India, Carribbean isles. I guess on work visas (maybe even illegals..expired visas?). Globalization is their no 1 priority. America is second.

I got rid of my credit cards years ago. I realized that those who "provide" them are nothing more than a kind of "drug" dealer. I was floored when I fought out that the credit card companies were signing up my kids WHEN THEY WERE STILL IN COLLEGE. Talk about getting someone hooked early.

This concept really came home to roost when my 42 year old daughter (who was single at the time, earning in excess of $120K per year) filed for bankruptcy. When I went with her to the lawyer's office, she revealed that she had appx. $80,000.00 in credit card debt.

I simply couldn't understand (still can't) how someone earning that kind of money could get themselves into that kind of jam. My daughter answered that question when she told me about all the "solicitations" she got from the credit card companies.

So, since then, whenever I get one of those "solicitations" to open up a credit card, I take the application they send - write in black magic marker on the application - 'PLEASE STOP SENDING THESE OFFERS', then stuff everything back into the 'self addressed POSTAGE PAID' envelope and mail it back to them.

I found out from my Post Master that companies only pay for those envelopes if they're RETURNED - and then they pay for it by WEIGHT. That's why I stuff as much junk into that envelope as I can before I mail it back.

Guess what - after a couple of "solicitatons" the junk stops coming.

Nowadays, I use a debit card (with my little local bank). My thought is that if the money isn't in my account, I dont really need "whatever".

I've seen too many kids/friends get caught up on the vicious cycle of credit card debt.

I'm running out of places to bank. It seems like they are all in cahoots with one or the other.

Thanks so much for the info on envelope stuffing.

I and the rest of the family and everyone's friends will be using this from now on. You can call the numbers they give you to get off the list till you turn blue and it won't phase them. This might do the trick.
