    Rep. John Culberson's pledge

I congratuated John Culberson for his high score against illegal immigration on Numbers USA and got this email back from him. No matter wich of the two IDIOTS get elected to be President next Tuesday, we need people in Congress like this keeping amnesty from happening.

Thank you for contacting me to express your opinion on illegal immigration and border security.

One of my highest priorities in post 9/11 America is securing our borders. Since coming to Congress, I have supported common sense proposals to put more boots on the ground and I have opposed amnesty bills that encourage more illegal immigration and reward people who break the law. I have worked closely with Republicans, Democrats, the Border Patrol, U.S. Marshals, federal judges, local border sheriffs, and state law enforcement to restore law and order to our border.

I have also worked closely with my colleague, Congressman Ciro Rodriguez, to provide funding for our border county sheriffs and we have secured $120 million for a program called "Operation Stonegarden." This funding will help enhance coordination between local, state, and federal law enforcement and increase patrolling along the Texas/Mexico border. I will keep looking for ways to get quick, effective, and lasting results along the border.

I have also teamed with Congressman Henry Cuellar, the Border Patrol, U.S. Marshals, and federal judges to expand Operation Streamline, a zero tolerance illegal immigration program. Under Streamline, anyone caught illegally crossing the border is arrested, prosecuted, and jailed for up to six months under a no entry without inspection law that was first enacted in 1952. The zero tolerance policy is achieving dramatic results in the Del Rio, Laredo, and Yuma Border Patrol Sectors. The Del Rio Sector saw a 38 percent drop in illegal apprehensions in FY2006 and a 52 percent drop this year. The Val Verde County Sheriff's office also reports a 76 percent drop in crime during this period. Operation Streamline enjoys the strong support of local communities. Civic leaders and elected officials from other areas of the southern border have expressed their strong support for a border-wide expansion of the program, which I am working to enact.

In October 2006, President Bush signed the Secure Fence Act into law. This bill calls for the construction of 700 miles of double-layer reinforced fencing along the southwest border as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, ground sensors, satellites, radar, and cameras for border surveillance. I strongly supported this bill, but I am concerned that DHS is behind schedule on meeting the deadline in the bill. I am working as a member of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee to get the fence completed as quickly as possible.

In 1986, Congress made it illegal for employers to hire illegal immigrants knowingly, and required employers to check the identity and work eligibility documents of all new employees. Unfortunately, counterfeit documents soon made a mockery of this process. Employers could not turn away illegal immigrants who presented documents, even if they were clearly fraudulent. For the past decade, however, employers have been able to use E-Verify to ensure that they are hiring a legal workforce. This program was reauthorized as a voluntary program in September with my strong support so it will continue helping employers hire citizens and legal immigrants.

You can count on me to continue working diligently to pass legislation that stops the flow of illegal immigrants, promotes legal entry, and secures our borders.

Thank you for entrusting me to represent you in the United States Congress. Please visit my website at www.culberson.house.gov.

This part bothers me. I saw Cuellar interviewed with a Sheriff from Laredo on Glenn Beck. Cuellar was so condescending to that Sheriff when he said they he had done nothing to help the Sheriff's with money or anything else, that Beck actually chastised the Congressman on air.

Now Culberson is the one who outed Pelosi and the Dems on putting the $420 per $100,000 of mortgage to go to ACORN in the summer bail out of Fannie Mae and Freddi MAC.
