    NumbersUSA Web Cast is on now on E-Verify

    E-Verify Webcast TODAY at 3 p.m. EDT

    All Your Questions About Lamar Smith's Bill Answered

    Today, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern (2:00 Central, 1:00 p.m. Mountain, 12 noon Pacific), we will be hosting a Live Webcast on www.NumbersUSA.tv to discuss Rep. Lamar Smith's new Federal E-Verify bill.

    Many of you have already emailed your questions to stateaction2011@numbersusa.com. If you have questions you want answered on the webcast, there's still time to email them. You can also tweet questions or post them on Facebook.

    NumbersUSA president Roy Beck and VP Government Relations Rosemary Jenks, joined by our director of content and activism Chris Chmielenski, will explain what the E-Verify bill will do and how it will help every American.

    How effective will it be in reducing illegal hiring? Why did business lobbies such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce decide to support this bill? Will the government actually enforce mandatory E-Verify? How much enforcement power will the states still possess? We will be discussing these questions and much more.

    So Click This Link to watch at 3 p.m. Eastern. (If you cannot make the live webcast, don't worry. It will be repeated continuously all day and evening!)

    See you at 3:00 Eastern!

    They are doing a fairly good job answering my questions and the grandfathered in isn't what some thought it would be. With the SSN matching system it won't work so well to grandfathering in illegal aliens.

    Official H.R. 483 cosponsor list

    Senators John Boozman, Marco Rubio, Jeff Sessions, and Roger Wicker are among the nine original co-sponsors to Senator Chuck Grassley's mandatory E-Verify bill offered last week. The bill would require all businesses to use E-Verify for new hires within 1 year of enactment and require all current employees be checked within 3 years of enactment.

    Sen. Grassley's bill would:

    Make permanent the E-Verify program that was created in 1996;
    Make E-Verify mandatory for all employers within one year of date of enactment;
    Clarify that federal contractors and the Federal Government (executive and legislative branches) must use it, and allows the Secretary to require “critical employersâ€
