The U.S. Senate has spoken – choosing lawlessness, fostering cultural anarchy and disregarding the loud and clear voice of the people on matters of border control and immigration policy.

The politicians who created the illegal immigration problem have determined the only course to correction is to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Far from being even a modest step in the right direction, the Senate, along with President Bush, have embarked on a path that will have dire consequences for the future survival of our nation.

    (Column continues below)

Mark my words: In just a few days or weeks, you will hear reports that illegal immigration into the U.S. has increased as a result of the reckless actions of the "shamnesty" proponents.

    Why?

Bush and the senators involved in this travesty of a compromise may as well have sent out engraved invitations to the 90 million or so Mexicans who have not yet chosen to cross the border. Millions more will be determined to get in on the action – they have nothing to worry about because the compromise actually weakens plans to secure the border.

Few actions in Washington over the last 200 years have plunged a dagger as close to the very heart of American sovereignty, the rule of law, the will of the people and the very concept of self-government as this move to legalize somewhere between 15 million and 20 million people who broke the law to get here.

Who do these people think they're fooling?

Could Americans really be so stupid and out of touch with reality that they will not rise up and revolt?

Is it possible we're so fat, lazy, immoral and ignorant that we will just accept what has been handed to us by out-of-touch elites?

This "shamnesty" affects every single American.

It cheapens the sacrifices you make as a law-abiding citizen.

    It raises your taxes.

It makes your community a little uglier and a little less safe.

It turns our highways into killing fields.

It takes jobs away from young Americans who need an entry-level position into the marketplace.

It attacks our national security by maintaining an open border for terrorists.

It dilutes the confidence of millions of American citizens who thought, evidently wrongly, that they still lived in a country where the people's voice could and would be heard.

It creates new, inefficient and costly bureaucracies.

It provides no real incentives for illegal aliens to start playing by the rules.

It enlarges a schism in this country between haves and have-nots, building a permanent underclass – something very un-American.

I could go on and on.

There are no upsides. None. It's just a bad deal for Americans – and a bad deal for Mexicans, too.

Have you ever thought of how exploitative this is? Do you think these poor, hardworking people want to leave their homes? Do you think they want to leave their families? Why should they have to travel over rough terrain, break Americans laws and live as second-class citizens here? Don't they deserve to have an economy in their own country that will support them?

NAFTA did this to them. Why do you think the problem of illegal immigration has become so much more severe since 1993? It is because the North American Free Trade Agreement devastated the Mexican economy. It destroyed the ability of the small family farmer in Mexico to eke out a living on his land. It set him up in direct competition with American agribusiness concerns.

So what happened? Jose had to leave his own farm and come to work for U.S. agribusiness.

It's a crime. It's a scandal. It's a rotten deal all around. And it's time for Americans to rise up in anger to save their country.

    Yes thanks for posting.

Looking at your avitar just makes me more motivated. I am so deeply greatful to our police officers and border guards who have given thier lives for this country to help keep us safe. This Brave police officer, among many others killed. Ramos, Compean and Gilmer all in prison for doing their jobs. It just makes me sick.

We must never forget our soldiers, police officers, border guards, etc. who put thier lives on the line daily to keep us safe. God Bless them all.

We need to get more motivated than ever patriots! Let's keep calling and faxing.

If I was a Mexican citizen living in Mexico right now, I would be thinking that all this Amnesty talk in the United States was an invitation for myself and my family to head north. I would be getting my family together and off we we go to join my fellow countrymen to make my new home in the United States. George Bush is my hero! Right now this is what millions of people are thinking south of the border, and else where in this world, thanks to this president and his fellow traitors!
