PHOENIX — Prosecutors in Arizona say a father accused of running down and killing his daughter in what has been described as an "honor killing" will not face the death penalty.

Maricopa County prosecutors announced the decision Thursday in the case against 48-year-old Faleh Almaleki.

The Iraqi immigrant is accused of killing his daughter by using his Jeep Cherokee to run her down along with another woman in a Peoria parking lot Oct. 20 because she had become too Westernized.

Noor Almaleki later died of her injuries.

Faleh Almaleki is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and two counts of leaving the scene of a serious accident.

He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

WTH?? So if you're a Muslim and commit an "honor" killing (premeditated) you get out of the death penalty?!?! Outrageous! The US does not condone "honor" killings, nor do we have sharia law.
Anyone else doing this would get death, but not him???

The death penalty is made for scumbags like this!

Well then in that case, if everyone commits murderous acts against the people that are trying to destroy this country it is an honor thing as well right????

This is a clear example of how the Laws in this Country are not being followed and how out of touch and reach the establishment in this Country is for its citizenry....

This is another ridiculous example of liberals playing the 'culture' card. I heard someone the other day say that it was okay for a mexican to treat his wife less respectfully because that's how it is in their culture with machismo. This is America, so our culture is what people need to be held to, and that doesn't include honor killings or wife beating.
