In Other News: Obama’s collection of failures from around the world

While the media wants everyone’s attention focused on their false portrayal of a Republican and Tea Party- led government shutdown, the list of Obama Administration other policy failures, most notably in the area of foreign policy continues to grow.
Remember Syria, that large Middle East country we were supposed to be at war with right now before Russia intervened and saved the region from an unnecessary war? If you only relied on the American press and broadcast news services for information, you might get the impression that the conflict is over and everyone’s gone home. Would that were true.
The Syrians are still hard at work slaughtering one another as the civil war between the national socialist regime and Muslim religious radicals continue unabated. Current Secretary of State John Kerry is no where to be found after having his ham-handed attempts at diplomacy and infamous gaffe regarding the turnover of chemical weapons almost literally blow up in his face. As far as we know, the US is still sending weapons and other aid to the Islamist radical side in the conflict. Last month’s Sturm und Drang has gone from a fierce moral urgency that demanded immediate military action to a dusty afterthought in just a couple of weeks.
Egypt is still racked with violence months after the military ousted president Mohammed Morsi last July. The US Intervention in the Egyptian revolution of 2011 that removed long time Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was heralded by Obama and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as a necessary event in their Pollyannaish attempt to hasten the spread of democracy during the so-called ‘Arab Spring’. Instead of ushering in secular civilian rule, however, the Obama/Clinton policy simply played into the hands of the Egyptian-centered Muslim Brotherhood.
Now it can be argued that a military dictatorship is a preferable alternative than the feudal religious state the Muslim Brotherhood had planned for the country, but since President Obama Hillary Clinton’s stated goal for the “Arab Spring” was peace and democracy, their efforts can only be described as a failure.
The combined EU and American military action that led to the fall of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 was defended by the Obama Administration as a necessary and morally justifiableresponse to the regime’s brutal crackdown on dissenters and radical Islamists (Sound familiar?). Instead of bringing a peaceful end to the bloodshed in Libya and providing a foothold for a secular and Western-focused Libyan opposition, Obama and Clinton’s feckless action effectively handed the country over to the Islamists and al Qaeda.

A year later, a secret Obama Administration plot to supply Syrian rebels with weapons is one of the more plausible explanations for what led to the sacking of the US mission in Benghazi and the murder of US Ambassador Christopher Stevens along with three other American CIA and State Department employees.
Obama’s thinly veiled contempt for Israel has been nothing short of startling. Every US Administration has had its differences with the Jewish state from time to time, but none have gone out of their way to deliberately antagonize and insult the one and only true Western democracy in the Middle East.
The Israeli’s have bigger fish to fry than trying to placate a petulant and borderline anti-SemiticWhite House. Like other nations around the world, they’ve apparently resigned themselves to ignore this president and wait for better leadership in 2016.
Russia has enjoyed playing the United States and its inept president for a fool since 2008. The Bush Administration enjoyed a skeptically respectful but mostly friendly relationship with Vladimir Putin’s Russia. What prompted the Obama State Department to employ its ridiculous “reset” gag is anybody’s guess. The result has been a predictable series of diplomatic and soft military failures the likes of which we haven’t seen since the early days of the Cold War.
China remains belligerent as ever as it continues its drive to become the dominate power in the Pacific region economically as well as militarily. The short sighted fiscal policy of allowing the Communist Chinese to hold a majority of US treasury debt has significantly decreased the diplomatic and economic advantage the US had over China. The Obama Administration shows no sign of addressing the issue in its second term.
So remember, the Obama Administration isn’t just a failure here at home. They are also busy ruining lives and stifling the prospects for peace and prosperity around the world.
