Cain: 'My church is still in the 'hood'

CONCORD, N.H. — Contrasting his black experience with that of President Obama, Republican presidential contender Herman Cain said Wednesday that, after growing up in the racially segregated South, he's still connected with the trials and travails of the black community — a connection symbolized by the fact that "my church is still in the 'hood.

Mr. Obama's upbringing "was very different than mine, I grew up in the South and the '50s and '60s," Mr. Cain told reporters here a day after a Republican presidential debate in which he was the frequent target of criticism from his rivals. "I was the son of a working dad who worked three jobs. We grew up in segregated areas and segregated schools, lived through the desegregation of those. I lived through the transitions that black people have lived through in this country, unlike President Obama."

"I still connect," he added. "My church is still in the 'hood, it is the same church I grew up in."

Mr. Cain said the churchgoers he worships with come from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from the poor, to the middle-class and the rich — as well as educated people who can't land a job.

"I associated with that whole spectrum of folk. So I am in touch," he said.

The former Godfather's Pizza CEO made the remarks after delivering a speech at the New Hampshire statehouse, where he made a pitch to supporters of front-runner Mitt Romney, the former governor of neighboring Massachusetts.

"Those of you who do not support him, I'm asking for your support," he told the crowd packed into the House chamber. "And those of you who do support him, I'm asking you to reconsider."

Unlike Obama attending a church and listening to the racist pastor Jeremiah Wright for years, I haven't heard that is the kind of church that Cain attended even if it was in the "hood".

    We are sooooo screwed.
Another slick politition another lessor of two evils .
I'll never vote for the lessors again.
I'll never let them show me who they are by reading through the lines and then tell myself I was just imagining things.I'm sick of hearing about their segregation ,at least they did'nt get stuck in Africa where they are still slaves.
Cain a member of the Black 'racist'Caucas.
Colon Powell and Condo Rice fooled me but this one won't ,unlike stupid whites, blacks always return to their 'ROOTS'.Except when it makes whites look bad, like the muslim black slave masters selling us their slave ancesters .
Until we are on equal ground there will be no hope either of us who built this great nation together.I don't know single white man who owns a dam slave or any place here segregated. This is just a password to his 'people' IMO.
Wheers he at when his people are calling for us to go to hell and sayng they hope to help put us there?
What about telling his hood to shut the hell up about killing whites and their 'babies'?
What about the FLASH MOBS attacking for no reason other than hate?
Wake the hell up and ask some questions, after all you really don't have anything to lose since nothing you do is right anyway.Stop kissing a@@ and start speaking out in peaceful ways defending yourself against all these false accusations.

    .
Funny how certain groups of people communicate with passwords. I used to think, like many others did, that the popular rap song "OPP" meant other peoples property, when it really meant "one people's project" which is a radical black organization that operates within America. I was at a Restaurant recently and witnessed a form of underground communication between two persons of color. I also heard recently that certain bumper stickers designate gang affiliation within the Hispanic communities where I live. I guess it all has to do with gangs, and America used to squash gangs. I understand that certain gangs have become too powerful for the DOJ to go after. That in itself is a crime.
