question about LEGAL immigration
I am trying to get information to help someone immigrate legally to the US. Currently he is in the US on a visitor's visa. I own a company and can sponsor him for a work permit, if necessary.

It will take time, maybe months, maybe years, but he will have to go home and then you can try to help him to get a green card. There's no way that it could be done in the amount of time a visitors visa lasts.
That's the best advise I would have for you, but please check official government information on it.

Welcome! Here is a link to the Immigration and Naturalization Services. They should be able to answer any questions you might have.

extended visa
He has an extended visa that doesn't expire until 2014. Still not enough time?

That's a long visitors visa. The longest I've ever heard of. How often does he have to leave and re-enter the U.S. Bo ?

I don't know the particulars of when he has to go back and such. All I know is that he is NOT authorized to work in the US but he can remain as a visitor until 2014. His father has a green card but none of the other family members have one.

Follow John's advise. You don't want to find yourself in trouble with the U.S. government, I'm quite sure.
