Thread: Poe, Passage of Border Security and Immigration Amendments

Dear Neighbors,


Earlier this week, the House of Representatives voted on the President’s request to increase the debt limit. I, along with 317 of my colleagues, voted NO, and this legislation failed to pass. Raising the debt limit encourages more spending, and the federal government already spends too much. I will continue to support measures that reduce government spending and that stop the raid on American wallets.

This week, the House of Representatives also considered an appropriations bill to provide funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). I introduced three amendments regarding immigration and border security. All three passed.

Border Communications Amendment
I introduced this amendment to improve border cell phone communications infrastructure. Those that live and work along the border, including law enforcement agents that patrol the border areas, often cannot communicate because of “cell phone dead zones.â€
