    ObamaCare Regulations:

10,500 Pages of Government Control The Affordable Care Act — ObamaCare — consisted of 2700 pages. This was just the beginning. Once the lawyers, courts, bureaucrats, and later acts of Congress got their greedy vote-begging hands on the monstrosity the implementation of the law would escalate beyond comprehension. Our fears have come to pass:

“These regulations add up to 10,516 pages in the Federal Register — or more than eight times as many pages as there are in the Gutenberg Bible, which has 642 two-sided leaves or 1,286 pages.

    *****

“The final Obamacare rules that have been published so far range from the regulation for implementing an excise tax on tanning services, to a 546-page regulation on hospital payment systems, a 196-page regulation on electronic health records, revisions to Medicare and an 111-page regulation for the Children’s Health Insurance Programs (CHIP).

” Don’t think it’s going to stop with 10,516 pages. Every detail of the law will have to be explained, deciphered, and litigated. When something doesn’t work, a new set of regulations will have to be written.

The Constitution of the United States was written on four sheets of parchment.

If you count the Preamble and all 27 Amendments (there were originally only ten), it comes out to 20 typed pages. If you don’t count the signatures and amendments, the document consists of 11 typed pages.

No single Amendment is a full page. Many are only a single sentence in length.

The First Amendment covers a multitude of freedoms: religion, press, assembly, speech, and the right to petition the government. It does it with only 45 words. Those original four sheets, about 4500 words, were good enough to serve for the government of our nation.

Can you imagine what what’s going to happen with the 1200-page (so far) immigration bill with similar interpretive powers for Congress and the Courts? Consider how much damage these two governmental branches have been able to do with just four sheets of parchment. What will they be capable of doing with 1200 pages of an immigration bill, 2700 pages of a healthcare bill, and more than 10,500 pages of regulations that will enable them to govern every facet of our lives?

The Constitution takes about 30 minutes to read. The Declaration of Independence has 1,458 words, with the signatures. It takes about ten minutes to read it.

I’d be willing to wager that there are some members of Congress who haven’t read either document all the way through.

There’s a very good chance that not a single member of Congress has read the Affordable Care Act or the most recent Immigration bill that they’re trying to shove down our throats.

Then there’s the question of who actually wrote these bills? I want a list of names.

We didn’t elect these people, so they shouldn’t be writing our laws. The same is true for the thousands of pages of regulations.

With these thousands of pages of regulations, there won’t be a single area of our lives that’s not regulated.

Reid defends Obamacare exemption for Congress: ‘That’s what the law says’

Posted on 12 September, 2013 by sophia

    Via The Daily Caller

Senate majority leader Harry Reid defended the special Obamacare exemptions carved out for lawmakers and their staff on Thursday during a Capitol press conference, insisting that Congress members and staff will participate in Obamacare’s exchanges.

Responding to the hoopla surrounding the health insurance policies on Capitol Hill, the Nevada Democrat flatly stated Thursday, “That’s what the law says, and we’ll be part of that.”

Reid said the Republicans and critics are just using the issue as a “diversion” to “try and embarrass the president.”

“Let’s stop these really juvenile political games,” Reid said. “The one dealing with healthcare for Senators and House members and our staff. We are going to be part of exchanges.”

The Office of Personnel Management announced in August that it plans to provide a subsidy of about 75 percent of the cost for the healthcare of members and staff.

The Obamacare fix for lawmakers and staff was made because the Affordable Care Act includes an amendment from a Republican senator that changes how the government currently covers most of the cost of health-care premiums for members and their staffers.

The new law mandates that members and staff must enter into exchanges or be covered by insurance “created” by law.

Lawmakers worried about a potential “brain drain” — Capitol Hill staffers leaving work because of the increased costs of health care — and therefore wanted the fix.

While Republicans are protesting the subsidy, Reid argued it’s typical for employers to pay for healthcare costs of employees.

“We’ll be treated like the rest of the federal employees,” he said Thursday. “It’s nothing unique that employers help pay for health care.

Ford Motor Company, Sears, doesn’t matter.”

Americans For Prosperity Launches New Efforts Against ObamaCare With “Exempt Me Too”

    September 10, 2013

Arlington, VA – Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s foremost free-market, grassroots advocate, announced the unveiling of a new website and petition called Exempt Me Too. The site highlights how many of the administration’s political allies and other special interests have received exemptions from ObamaCare, while pointing out a number of other groups that have sought their own exemption from ObamaCare.

Click here to view the website, JustExempt.Me.

“Ever since ObamaCare’s inception, people have been fighting against this job killing, bureaucratic nightmare, while a special few sought and won exemptions,” said AFP President Tim Phillips.

“With Congress’s recent action to exempt themselves, it’s time to ask the question: if ObamaCare isn’t good enough for Congress, then why force it upon the American people? This website allows ordinary Americans to tell Congress that they want to be exempt as well.”

This launch is the latest in AFP’s Exempt Me Too campaign, which focuses on Washington special interests groups and political cronies who have received exemptions from the new healthcare law. Efforts will focus on events and online petition gathering throughout the country.

A separate AFP effort – themed Risk Factors – invites individuals to utilize an online calculator to gauge their risk of suffering harm under ObamaCare. That effort has featured a number of TV ads, that discuss how ObamaCare will affect your children, your family, and your choice of doctor.
