I know we've discussed this on a seperate thread and I wasn't sure if the State had the control of the national guard.
While talking with my state rep I asked and he told me the governors of the state can activate the national guard but the President could federalize it ...
if that's the case, why hasn't the Governors of Arizona, Texas, California and Nevada activated the guard to the borders?
Mamie--I thought Governors had control over the National Guards. They are like state militias.

Darn good question. I would suspect because most of the Governors are Globalists and if they are Democratic Party Governors, very difficult with the Fords, Rockefellers, AFL-CIO, ACLU (ready to call you racist), Southern Poverty Law Conference (ready to call you racist), to be the first one up until now.
Governors may not have known how the Americans felt about this until now.

When you activate the National Guard as the Governor of a State, you have done a whole bunch of things all at once.
1. The State pays for the Guard. Ouch is an understatment here.
2, The State pays for the Jail Time, and while that would save money, the Feds come out, take a look, and say.. yep.. they are illegal aliens... let them go. And the State has to let them go at this point. the Feds don't have the detention centers they need, and they will not pay for the jail time in the State, County, and city jails. That is a consequence of negligence by the Democratic Party under Clinton, and the Republican Party under Bush. And I think that tells us a very ugly story about congress.
3. The taxes you lose with a non productive citizens in the National Guard is big money. But add this: the Guard, if I am not mistaken, and would like to know, must then supply benefits to the Guard Member and to the families of the Guard.

There are legal issues galore, and family issues, and immigration law issues... more, more, more.
What can be done is to take military units that do survailence and apply them to the border. They could also be used directly ON the border protecting a wall, but that gets difficult over time, and again, expensive.
The Federal Government thought they could arrange an invasion... get a couple of 40 million people in place.. say my goodness.. and then provide amnesty. The problem turned out to be the illegal aliens were very, very expensive items to keep and things are not working out well in the processes. But the National Guard is just not a player: citizen patrol may be. But very specifically, bounties on illegal aliens, and a privatized and motivated civilian Border Patrol may well be super good.

End of story, the three ways we really have of getting things done seem to me to be... National I.D. Fine the dickens out of employers. Bounties for employers who use illegal aliens, and employees who are illegal aliens.
Shaw--I agree with you that on a long term basis the National Guards would not be the best long term guards because they are reserved for emergencies. But this is an emergency. That is what they are for. There is no greater emergency in my experience than this flood of aliens into the United States. The National ID isn't going to keep them out. It may help regulate the round up...for lack of a better term....for it won't keep them out. The flow has to STOP. It has to STOP.
The border patrol isn't ready; and won't be. Check my article on DRO that I posted and on ICE.
Until they are ready, National Guard is the right group to STOP IT!!
The Minutemen want the National Guard, too, and said they weren't leaving until the National Guard got there. I believe they've researched it and the Governors need to do what they asked for and get National Guard troops to the Border.
National Guards are experienced with civilian matters. Their training is diferent than regular Armed Services.
National Guard troops handle guarantines, floods, all types of civilian emergencies. They are very well trained in such matters. They are trained in riot control and many appropriate endearvors pertinent to this brewing soon to boil issue on the ground. They have all types of equipment as well. In fact they are loaded with aircraft, helicopters, jeeps, tanks, emergency supplies, everything needed to control a border and an invasion of their area. That's why we have them. That is actually their primary duty....going to Iraq was not really the primary duty of a member of the National Guard. They are supposed to be here guarding the Nation.
The enormity of the problem is the biggest part of the problem. This is not a simple matter of pushing a ball over the edge of a hill and getting it rolling. This ball is huge, and it will affect every nation on the planet. It is naive to think any politician wants to sign on to a piece of legislation that may be looked at in the future as having come down on the wrong side of the issue.
It will take the majority of citizens crying out to stop what is going on to make our elected representatives take the action needed. Getting the word out to others, urging friends, family, co-workers to look at the situation and recognize it as the problem it is, and then motivating them to take action of some sort is the stage of the process we're at right now. Until our representatives really feel the pressure of the people, there isn't much to force their hand one way or the other.
The glass is still half full though. There is a lot more discussion going on now, so folks are waking up to what is happening. The tide is turning and it will turn further. Just keep adding weight to the scales and eventually they'll tip in our favor.

There is no law that states they must be let go. On the contrary, it says they should be apprehended and prosecuted. But, there is no place to kee them until that prosectution can take place....so they are released on their own recognizance.

Such an order is illegal! Mayors have two responsibilities: Abide by the law and provide funds for the capability to enforce the law.
Not having "facilities" is no excuse. It was their responsibility to provide for the problem of detention or turn them over to the Federal Government for detention.
It is the responsibiity of the Federal Government to have made arrangements to deport immediately or have adequate detention facilities.
The better course of action would have been to control the borders as they are required to do and then our nation would not need as many detention facilities.
Control the Borders, Stop the Flow.

That does sound good. But are the reasons Tom provided the only reasons. I have posted a number of articles from the National Catholic Reporter and I think they are actively lobbying for admission of these poor poeple. they don't have responsiablity for them, and it makes the Mexican Catholic Church ..very.. happy. I don't like that either. Their performance keeps about 45 million Mexican Nationals in poverty and with children that won't ever work unless they come to the United States.
Bush, and the Mexican Catholic Church want open borders... I want Bush and the Mexican Catholic Church gone! A search for the articles to make my claim acceptable would be in http://www.findarticls.com . and when you get there, ask for... Catholic Illegal Immigrants .. in just that form. And still water does run deep.
Shaw--I agree with you 100% about the Catholic Church!! The Pope has even made comments about it. The Fathers are always around the illegal immigrants. Someone posted an article about a Father in some town here in North Carolina have a help day for getting them their citizenship papers.
Also, I believe they were named in the Open Borders Lobby article I posted. I'll check it and come back and post that fact. I believe that's how I was able to confirm my suspicions about their role in this.
Thanks for bringing up this important fact. The Parishioners of the Catholic Church need to understand what their heirarchy is actually up to as I don't believe most American Catholics would agree with this policy of interfering with another Nation's political system like the United States which SETS THE STANDARD FOR freedom, equality, human rights in all matters here and abroad as well as we are usually the the ones to send our Troops to defend these rights overseas.
If there has been a fight for freedom that did not involve the United States, then I would appreciate someone letting me know.

I believe within the context of immigration and these groups that have "networks" to assist immigrants the lines between illegal and legal do not exist.

The article I posted "Open Borders Lobby Ford Foundation Must Read" is the most comprehensive document I've found that actually identifies the massive number of non-profit organizations using tax exempt contributions, which means, tax payer underwritten and financed, to dissolve the United States.

Well, its time for this to stop. This is totally absurd that these organizations would EVER have been given a tax-exempt status. Many are clearly frauds, deceptions, covers for militant, criminal, and traitorous entities working at odds with the National interest of the United States, actively pursuing a massive population of foreign nationals within our sovereign boundaries.
And clearly the Catholic Church has some a role in this with their Catholic Legal Immigration Network and how they interface with the supporters of the Open Borders Lobby.
I don't think American Parishioners would approve if they knew the consequences of these activities and they should learn and speak up if they oppose the dissolution of the United States.
Well. I grew up Catholic but as an adult I find their stance on sex--everything from birth control to homosexuality, infuriating. Telling desperately poor people to continue multiplying is beyond cruel.
I have to say I find some of the opinions expressed on this site a little mean. I think we should help poor people--but at the same time we Americans need to understand that we can't save the world--we don't have that power.
I think the people pushing for illegal immigration here in the US aren't in it "help poor people." They are exploiting them for a fast profit.
BobC--the people who are in this illegal immigration don't care about people of any nation or any nationality, not even Americans, not even Mexicans. They are Globalists. To undertand them, you have to understand that they don't care about anybody except themselves and how to increase already enormous wealth so enormous, it is beyond our imaginations.
These are Old Money Families....that if and when they ever do a charity or what on the surface appears to be helpful to mankind, there is a payback to them....usually hidden.
Don't misunderstand reactions to what everyone is learning very rapidly.
This issue is not about people. It's about a Nation.
Anytime communities or neighborhoods are over-run with strangers littering as they go; standing on street corners; handing out; just being there....it disturbs people. It's not being cruel to the people that are over-running these neighborhoods for these people to object to an illegal presence.
This situation should not exist. Our government's failure to simply enforce Immigration Law has created it. And it must be stopped.

I agree. But the way we are trying to help the poor people of Mexico is dead wrong. Not only that, the government of Mexico is so corrupt it will not allow Americans to set up learning institutions in Mexico. LOTS of difficulty with our efforts to bring almost any country forward from poverty.
I keep looking at this issue, and I have begun to believe we should not provide extensive aid to any country outside of an international organization. I very strongly feel we need to be inside an international organization, and commit our money to that organization for distribution. And that organization must be committed to providing aid to countries without corruption. I believe it is clear I do not like the U.N., and that organization needs to be a democratic states organization, with a democratic voting structure. I DO NOT support the U.N.
But a truely significant change in the way we are providing aid. And baseline in this: we do not .. in the form of excess population that cannot be employed in the home country, take the problems the counties else where create with their policy. If a country has to many people to employ... they had darn well do something about it besides sending the people to the United States.
I don't know how they can do that but they do it every single day in cities all over this country. In the city where I live, police aren't allowed to inquire as to the status of immigrants. Neither are they allowed to arrest people they know darn well are illegals. They have to call ICE or INS or the Border Patrol and by the time they get there, the illegals are long gone because the police have no right to detain them.Quote:

If that is not the case in the city you live in, I'd keep a pretty close eye on the local and state laws and make certain that the laws don't get modified in favor of the illegals or you will be in the same kind of mess as every border town in this country where no one knows who's legal and who isn't.

This is referring to the "local officials" instructing law inforcement that they aren't ALLOWED to enforce the law. Some local governements have passed law that STOPS LAW ENFORCEMENT from following the federal law.

No local law can over-ride a federal law. All local laws are subject to and must comply with federal law. Federal law is the prevailing law, meaning the Top Dog when it comes to law.
No local or state law can violate federal law and be legal in the United States.
All these things are ILLEGAL!!
JUDY, this is exactly my point. If local law can NOT override federal law then...................bingo. That's a point of exploitation for us. And a very SOLID point that cannot be ignored.

JuniusJr--I'm hearing more about this same problem in other areas including ours. It is the National Council of La Raza. They beat a drum at all levels of our government through a national affiliate organization that consists of 300 affiliates nationwide. I'm sure they have a strong active set of affiliates in Texas and probably 2 or 3 if not more in El Paso. They appoint key political people to their boards and committees. They use this connection to promise votes for candidates. I believe the affiliates also are used as an employment network for the illegals as part of their advocacy and capacity-building. I believe the National Council of La Raza through its affiliates participates in the trafficking and recruitment of the traffic for political and financial purposes. I've learned they have been working at this for 35 years...so their tenacles are deep and long.
They have created a class of "untouchables"... consisting of millions nationwide most of whom have absolute loyalty and allegiance to their homeland, not the United States.

How many ILLEGALS have been able to vote? Certainly enough of a block to have turned our elections upside down. Add Hitlery's "felon voters" to the list and - well- you all can see where this is headed.
IMO, they've been able to circumvent our scrutiny by screaming RACE DESCRIMINATION concerning the poorer black communities thereby taking the heat off of the ILLEGAL voters. Once again, black Americans are being exploited for subversive reasons.
